I found these at Sports Authority for $10 for 15 balls.. I was surprised at the price for a 3 piece balls so decided to buy 1 box to try them out. Now i'm a high handiap(17) and have only been golfing for a year. The balls that i've ever used are the ones i've found around the course so i'm not a ball expert or even a novice! Im a golfer on a budget and hate to buying new balls just because of how expensive they are! So for $10 i might as well give these a shot.

Off the tee these things go straight! I usually hit a fade and sometimes a slice! My fade has turned straight and my slice has turned to a slight fade.. With approach shots these can spin. They usually stop within in a feet from my divot. I even had one spin backwards on me with my 8 iron. As far as durability I was able to play one ball with 1 round with a little scuff on them. So their pretty durable. I liked them so much ended buying 3 more boxes of these! For $10 why not right??

The guy I play with most showed up yesterday with a box of the TA 845 Tour Distance. Because of the low price he decided to give them a try. He shot his low round of 2013 with that ball and was talking about how much he liked it after just a few holes. Not sure what worked for him but he played good yesterday. Really don't have to spend a lot to find a decent ball. I usually play the NXT Tour S but recently made the switch to the cheaper Titleist Velocity.

I usually play with Srixon balls (AD-333 or Soft Feel), but on a lark I bought a few boxes of these EVO balls, on sale for $7.98 for a box of 18 at Sports Authority. I'm age 64 with a 19 handicap. I look at these balls the same as private label tires for your car/truck or private label items at the grocery store. Sure the quality is not as high as Titleist, Callaway or Bridgestone, but they offer a great value.

They have a nice feel off the Ping G20 irons I play and a nice click off my Slotline TSP8 putter. Of course they won't spin on the green like an expensive ball. To each his own, but I can buy 8 dozen of these for the cost of one dozen Pro V1's

    • Fantastic selection! And very little driving between them. Fingers crossed the weather is good to you.
    • Day 20: 2026.01.22 Hit about twenty balls at the range. Quietly pleased with how the changes are bedding in, surprsingly consistent ball flight. Hoping to film over the weekend to capture new movement.
    • You might also consider a tune-up lesson. Check and see if anything in your set-up or basic swing is holding you back. I have been playing for more than five decades, but on occasion I've had to make swing tweaks due to age, loss of flexibility, etc. You don't have to reinvent your swing. A couple of static set-up changes might really help out.
    • Good advice. In general, you want to take whatever weight you are lifting to a couple of reps before failure, for muscle growth. There are other tactics for PT related stuff. I would trust your PT person.  For muscle growth, you can go like 30 reps to failure. It is tougher to gauge. Also, it takes 2x as long to do the same number of working sets per week if you are doing 15 instead. It is way less efficient, but your case is special because of the injury/aggravation to the hip.
    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
