Sorry for the length of this post but please let me know what you think.

I golf about 2 times a week and would love to hit the range every day if I could but family life and this need to have a stupid full time job to pay my bills gets in the way. However, thanks to having room and an understanding wife I bought an Opti Shot to be able to swing more often. I knew it wouldn't be perfect, not for that price, but I am having issues and wanted to get some opinions on their troubleshooting. I know my lighting is not perfect and I am probably not going to tape my clubs but I don't think that's the problem as I have only had 1 swing not register out of probably around 300+ swing. Where I am having problem is the readings. I hit a tight draw with a driver and (knock on wood) have been very accurate with it for 2 months now. With the opti shot though I am getting a reading of being wide open(15 degrees plus) with my driver and hitting a slice and when I try to subtly correct it I get a slammed shut reading (10 degrees plus) and hit a pull hook. The only thing I haven't been able to do with the driver is hit a draw. I have entered all my specs on my clubs which somewhat fixed the irons as I cannot hit my 7 irons 200 yards anymore and I am actually getting a short reading with them.

So I hit the web and Optishot suggest of course lighting and tape. They then say to change the swing speed and shot percentage up or down and play with the numbers until you are hitting what you are used to. Then they suggest if you keep getting an open or closed reading to adjust your clubs offset numbers on the system until you get a reading and ball flight that you are accustomed to. Now in theory this makes sense to calibrate the system to what you are used to seeing on the golf course and then once perfectly set any deviation of the swing will start to read correctly and you can see what you are doing right or wrong. In practice however if I don't know exactly what I am doing with the club head, or why I cannot hit an iron well (I chunk them, blade them, slice them, pull them etc, etc), wouldn't I just be adjusting the system to read my bad swing as a good swing and anything I may fix would actually start to read it as a bad swing? What do you guys think? Am I over thinking this and should just adjust it or is that a slippery slope that may actually screw up my swing? So far I have absolutely loved to be able to go home and hit some balls but I obviously cannot do it at the expense of my game. Thanks for any input.

James
