I take lightning very seriously and if there is even a whiff of it, I... am... outtathere ... posthaste .

Anyone use smartphone apps as a warning system, in addition to or as opposed to, depending on the horn blast? Like this:

Dependable?

Steve

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Yahoo weather widget sends alerts via national weather service. I get everything from severe weather alerts to Amber alerts, phone goes nuts.

As I stated in another thread, I use iNWS weather alerts. They're alerts from NOAA and I have them set up for damn near every weather phenoma possible. The NWS also has similar notifications texts you can sign up or go to TWC.com and get them there, all free. I trust these almost as much as my eyes. If I see lightning in the distance, hear thunder, and suspect a T'storm is rolling threw I'll bail on the round. No sense risking injury over a golf round.
