Does shaft flex play into slice or hook? I hit fairway woods pretty straight, but normally banana slice my driver, maybe 4 out of 10 shots. The fairway woods are firm flex shafts, the driver is a stiff flex Graffaloy. Would a more flexible shaft help put the kibosh on the banana ball?

Very general rules of shaft fitting (for a right hander):

Shaft is too stiff: ball flight low and right

Shaft is too flexible: ball flight high and left

So, yes, the stiff flex could be contributing to your slice.

The short answer is yes. I highly recommend finding a fitter in your area who can match a driver shaft to your fairway wood.

I was right on the line for swing speed for making the jump to stiff shaft. After hitting some friends stiff shaft drivers, I decided to make the move. Ball flight does seem lower, but somehow it has straightened my big fade into a much gentler one, keeping me in alot of fairways.
