Pretty sure this is fake, but want to make sure.

The Select Newport 2.0 putters did not come with the heads wrapped in plastic, did they?

Or does this look authentic?

I'm not a scotty expert but does it have the appropriate Titleist Authenticity sticker?

Looks something like this..

I noticed that label's absence when I got tipped off by the paint looking somewhat sloppy. Any other doubts I had were just solidified by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yqy5_oDO8Dg . The fake putter shown in the video is identical to this one.

I didn't realize these things were so often counterfeited. It never crossed my mind when I picked it up off of this guy on Craigslist. Sigh. Oh well.

Lol, I'm not laughing at your misfortune but even the shrink wrap looks shoddy! Did you contact and/or report the seller?

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Honestly, the construction was done very well and is a very convincing piece. There are a couple of small aesthetic pieces that I think the vast majority would have overlooked.

I was very close to having never been the wiser, but I stumbled across the counterfeit world and my heart sank.

As far as reporting the seller, Craigslist doesn't really have that feature. A guy posted it for sale. We texted most of the day. I ended up buying it and he was going to check with a friend of his since he was interested in my Odyssey. I'm not sure he knew it was fake or not. The backstory was that his wife bought the putter for his birthday, but then they found she was pregnant with their second child so the putter was being sold as it was a luxury. I got the putter, its head cover, a second white grip, and a second white headcover. She allegedly bought it all off of eBay.

Apparently the wife has already spent the money on bills and they don't immediately have the money to refund me, so I don't have high expectations of this panning out too well for me. I only put out $200 for all of it. I see the grip sell for about $50 on eBay. I have no idea what the second headcover would sell for since it has embroidery for Louisiana specifically as well as Scotty logos (that headcover looks to be much better quality). I'll sell the Scotty as a known counterfeit. I'm not entirely sure what it will bring though.

It might be good to check your state laws on selling counterfeit goods. Even though you are upfront and not attempting to defraud anyone, you might be violating some statute and get stuck, especially if you do it on a public venue like Ebay or Craigslist.

    • There are so many videos comparing and contrasting everything that I am both overwhelmed and more than a bit skeptical. Your comments above are much more valuable than hours of you-tube videos. Generally speaking, I’d much prefer to read something that someone took the time and trouble to write (such as your comments) than a bunch of videos, or worse, meaningless reviews that seem like they are all cut and paste selections of the same script. I’m more of a RTFM type than a watcher of “instructional” videos. By way of explanation, I don’t watch TV either.  So thanks - I’ll take that under advisement. I have an H3 that I bought for $10 that I’ve been carrying around but not sure why. Seems like a cool club, but I just don’t really know what to do with it.
    • I was using the window as a mirror. Just trying to be a more aware of the feels for a better backswing. Trying to not be as closed from A1 to A2. Then not letting the club head flip inside. What I was feeling was a pressure my right wrist, and like the palm of my right hand was pushing upward against the grip of the club. My right hand was the underside of the swing path.  Going to play around with this a bit more. It looked pretty decent with mirror/window work. Just wanted to jot it down.
    • Day 4: 3/26/25 Par4Success workout followed by putting through 50 mm gates.
    • Day 249: did a stack putting session and then worked on 5 foot putts for a bit.
    • Day 17 (26 Mar 25) -  Big day working on a project at church - therefore it was grab some time with the 9i in the backyard working on pitch and runs later in the day.  Focused on keeping the ball flighted to get some good rollout.  Hit about 20 shots doing that and then moved to the 54 to keep working on getting good torso rotation and not flipping through it.  Was not perfect as there were some bloopers and fliers but overall a good session on distance control.
