Specific Clubs

Im looking into getting new clubs and I have just been wondering what type of set ups everyone has. I dont mean what brand of clubs, but what range of clubs, Number of drivers, wedge degrees etc.

Generally as a guideline you need to choose between a 3-wedge setup (usually with a PW, a 50-52 Degree gap wedge and a 54-56 degree sand wedge) and a 4-wedge setup (add a 60 Degree) and that kind of dictates what else fits in your bag.

I guess the standard would be:

1 driver
2 woods/hybrids
8 irons (3-PW)
2 wedges
1 putter

Just my opinion, hopefully someone else can confirm/correct my assessment:

Woods are easier to hit off the tee and are generally less workable and work great as driver replacement when the driver is going crazy. Hybrids more replace your long irons and provide workability while still delivering consistency.

They also generally have a different look:

Hybrid: smaller, "more workable" clubhead


Fairway Wood: wider, bigger clubhead
