Titleist 714 CB Irons

I haven't hit them...but have handled them.  To be perfectly honest...they are nearly identical to the 712's...nearly all of the 714's are super similar to the 712's.

As for the CB's in particular...they are a slight cavity backed blade.  Not much has or will change in this type of club.  They are awesome clubs...

I didn't hit them because they are way above my skill level and I was focusing on the AP irons, but I did take a good look at the CBs.  To me the cavity looks so shallow it's hardly worth the effort.  Might as well go blades, but I really can't see why anyone would look past the AP2s, Duffner does okay with them.  For me; I was very pleasantly surprised by how sweet the AP1s are!

Driver: Titleist 913 D2 10.5*, Aldila RIP Phenom 50

Fairway 1: Titleist 913F, 17*, Titleist Bassara W55

Fairway 2: Titleist 913F, 21*, Titleist Bassara W55

Irons: Titleist AP1 714 5-PW, Aerotech Steelfiber i95

I looked at the specs for the AP2.714 and 714.CB . The AP2 has a degree stronger loft for 6i on up, and a degree more bounce in some places, and has tungsten toe and heel weights.

714.CB has more of a perimeter-weighted design.

How do the two compare on ball flight, and ease of use? It seems like differing head designs may produce pretty much the same result.

(P.S. If I did Titleist irons, it would be the AP1 line).

      I added to total today by hopping it in on the first hole for an eagle. A short par 4, I hit 4 wood to 110. With a little breeze in my face I hit a 50 degree gap wedge to 2 feet and watched it hop into the hole for an eagle 2!

      Day 14 (September 18).  Morning practice, despite questionable weather (it's raining).   Worked on chipping at first, including run-ups with UW and PW;  I've noticed lately some of my near-GIRs are missing forward, with nothing but grass ahead of me, but 20-30 yards to the pin.  After a few misadventures putting those lately, I wanted to at least get a feeling for what a 30-yard chip shot that doesn't have the variance of my quarter lob wedge would feel like.  I still think "putt when you can putt" is right, but... I am less sure I have a 30 yard putt in me.  Range time also, of course, same routine as the past week or so (drill, 3-4 slow shots, etc).   Did not get to the putting green as it was starting to come down a bit more. Darn, it really is raining.  And I thought today would be a perfect day to play, seeing as how it's 9-18 and all.

      I'm in the same boat.  I think the last team event I got really excited for was the 2019 Presidents' Cup.  When I first got into golf, the Ryder Cup was an event (one among many) I used to plan my schedule around to make sure I'm able to watch it.   I'm not sure I realized how close it was until I saw this thread pop up.
