There's definitely more depth now simply from there being more people with access to the game, but it's very hard to compare generations in golf - different equipment, different conditions, different techniques, etc.  The advantages the modern player has (all built on the back of guys in the 50's and 60's) has greatly increased the perceived talent, but I think the same players who were great then would be great now and vice versa.  Talent is talent.

Yeah, I think the top 5 or 10 from every generation could compete, provided the equipment was leveled. But I think today's 10 through 100 would destroy every other generation.

Watch Jacklin's speech at the end, the part where he gets distracted by the plane in the sky is hilarious. SQUIRREL!!

    • Day 519 - 2026-03-04 Got some work in before lessons. Mostly downswing. My backswing is good.
    • Yeah I’ve tried it but I don’t feel very comfortable doing it like that. Isn’t there like a website where I can do it so it’s safer?? I got scammed one time on FBM so I don’t trust it.
    • Day 200 3-4 Wider back swing, arms up a bit higher, and added in some flow work to start getting a since of a full swing. Still focusing on arching wrist through downswing.
    • It's going to be very difficult for the 2026 Masters to match the 2025 edition for storyline. I honestly don't know that anyone else in the field could match the story of Rory finally winning after so many years and the blow ups over the years, not to mention the career slam being completed. No one this year that I can think of is remotely close to that kind of story. Combine that with the attempts at blow ups last year (Double on the 1st, 13, 18 on first try) and the stunningly good shots that he hit in the final round (7, 15, 17, 18 on second try).  Full gamut: https://www.masters.com/en_US/watch/2025-04-13/17445961638226475/every_single_shot_from_rory_mcilroys_final_round.html
