Swing speed

i went to dicks sporting goods the other day and they have a golf simulator so you can try out clubs. It shows you where the ball would go, its flight, distance, and your swing speed. I used a couple of 6 irons and it said my swing speed was 100-106 mph. Is this good, average, or bad?

I seem to recall reading that the average golfer has a driver swing speed around 90mph, so your speeds would be above average. I think Tiger swings his driver about 115mph (130 if he is really going after it).

Most of the Dicks (that I've been to) use a Vector Launch monitors which are pretty accurate.

If it was registering 106 with you hitting irons, I'm speculating that was actual BALL speed and not swing speed....which that being the case would put you around 75mph Swing Speed....which would make sense.

I believe it is... my 6-iron speed is around 85-90 and I'd get about 125-130 in ball speed.

100-106 MPH Swing Speed is a little much for an iron, for a Driver I can understand, you might wanna lower that down to in the 80's if that is the case.

I read his swing speed is around 120-125 and cranks it to 130-135 if he wants

vs. people like Tony finau whose swing speed is apparently around 150

A swing speed of 106 MPH with a 6 Iron is very high. Mine is only 98 MPH with a driver, so you may want to think about slowing it down a touch...
