Right now i have a TM r7 460 with the re*ax shaft, and i was wondering if i just ordered a proforce v2 shaft from golfsmiths website, and i get it in the mail can i just take it to golf galaxy and pay them to put it on, or do i have to go through some special process. Also, i was wondering if i could just put steel iron shafts in my hybrids. thanks

Why not just order it thru Golf Galexy??? They own Golfworks and Golfworks is cheaper than Golfsmith...plus you'd be paying shipping!

just make sure the shaft you order has the same tip diameter as the hosel of your shaft... i got ****ed by that today because my pink aldila nv came in today and it was .335 and my tm r5 dual's hosel diameter is .350 so I had to reorder another nv for .350 (and it's not pink =/)

i had no idea about this before, also the guy that is putting this together for me says that i should've ordered a shaft "pured" which had something to do with less wobbling, i have no idea..(but yeah so the second one i ordered was pured)

Why not just re-shaft it either at GolfGalaxy or GolfSmith? There's chance you might be getting the wrong shaft tip diameter.

OMG! Whogave you this information???

The guy knows nothing! Granted, you should have got the .350....but your clubmaker should have had shims to fit the .335 into the .350 head...it's a common daily practice... Secondly, any competent clubmaker can "pure" of spine align, the shaft for you themselves...and not charged you. If this guy doesn't know these really basic principles of clubmaking, I would really recommend you look elsewhere...he just cost you a lot of money you should never have paid...and I'm guessing his quality of work will be pretty poor.

Exactly!

Ok, I'm getting a little picky here but PUREING is a process done by an

SST PURE licensee, which not just anybody can do. However Flat Line Oscilation (FLO) can be done by any competant clubmaker.

LOL...this is true,,,that's why I put the "pure" in quotations.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
