I'm really dying to play a full 18-hole course and my fiance won't have her clubs for a few weeks. I'd be interested in meeting up with someone to play a round. This is the course I would like to play at:

It seems nice and doesn't cost too much. I would prefer to tee off around noon on Saturday but I'm flexible, I just don't want to wake up extremely early.

I have my own clubs, shoes, etc. and don't drink or act like a moron so you don't have to worry about that. As for my experience level...I've read an entry level golf book cover to cover, I've been driving, chipping, putting, etc. and done a nine-hole course once. So I'm obviously very new, you should know that in advance. I do know the rules and general etiquette for the most part. I'm a 23 year-old male.

If anyone is interested that would be awesome...please post here so we can discuss. I'm dying to go out this Saturday but I don't want to do it alone! I wouldn't mind renting a golf cart or walking, either is fine.

EDIT: Not to be picky but if someone does want to play I don't want to go with anyone that is smoking, drinking (heavily) or using chewing tobacco during the match. They really gross me out.

If you want to bring a friend or whatever that is cool to...as long as you are normal people. I might get a guy from my work to come but that is still up in the air.

Thanks for the kind words. The guy from my work is busy and so is another forum member that may have possibly gone...so I'm still looking for someone if anyone is interested.

Well, I ended up playing Walter Hall saturday morning, teed off around 8:55 am, and ended up shooting the best round of my life. Cracked 90 for the first time, shooting an 86, while making 2 birdies, and missing a 3rd lipping out. All in all a fun round of golf.

Now to build on it...

btw, Walter Hall is pretty easy... No Traps, not much OB, and only 6300 yards. It's fun though..

Well you are a lot better than I...I went to the par-three since I couldn't get anyone to go to Walter Hall and did pretty poorly until the last two holes which I did great. I would like to go to Walter Hall perhaps next Saturday if anyone is interested...but a fair warning, I really suck.

Since nothing happened this Saturday I would likely be interested in doing something this coming Saturday. Pretty much looking for the same situation as outlined in my original post.

      Day 27 - 2026-01-16 Played 18 with some of the usual "too many voices" going on when I'm working on swing stuff. Fun to get out in great bay area winter weather.

      I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.

      Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.
