So after reading a lot about irons (game improvement vs. 'players' irons) I have decided to go with a blended set. The ones that strike my fancy are the nike pro-combo's. I have hit my friend's at the range and really like how they feel.

I believe they are discontinued, but via ebay I would be able to get what I think is a good deal on some used ones.

Here is the question...If I get a set of standard irons (length, lie, etc...)how hard, and how much $ would it be to tailor them to my swing? Since they are forged clubs they could be bent correct?

I haven't been fitted before, but I would assume that since I am tall (6' 2") I would need a slightly longer shaft. So I would be looking at re-shafting the clubs as well as possibly adjusting the lie angle.

Thanks.

you can go to any of the major retailers, golfsmith, edwin watts, golfers wharehouse ect etc and order any kind of set you want. clubs are priced per club and if you wanted you could order 3,4,5 Titleist - 7,8 Mizuno, 9,PW Taylormade... it doesn't matter. They just order them seperately on their account from the respective companies and have them shipped to you or the store.

Getting fitted for lie is pretty easy and doesn't cost you anything. Some contact tape and a plastic lie board and they'll have your lie within a couple of minutes. You can also measure your wrist to floor length and help determine if extra length is needed.

I think the question was can he buy a standard set on ebay then take them someplace and get them fitted...

The answer is yes, but I do not think that they will guarantee that they won't break a club... And the price varies so you would have to call a store and get a quote...

Hopefully, you do not need them longer, but if you do, have extensions put in as opposed to rehafting which is expensive. To reshaft, I would rather look to a good club fitter and new heads to fit your game. Lie angle is easy to change. Loft change affects the bounce of the club and I would avoid doing that to prevent too much digging.
