Just looking into what people believe are the best set of irons they own...or have ever owned for that matter.  I'm about a 5 handicap now but I was scratch in college and I had a set of Daiwa DG-201 blades that were the best I ever hit.  I have a set of Titleist 962B that I refuse to give up and have run a close second.  Just looking to see what everyone thinks.

I recently had a set of Mizuno MP 68's that were stolen and those clubs got me onto the Mizuno bandwagon. I replaced them with the MP 52's and so far (I've only had them for about a week), after numerous trips to the range and my first round coming up with them this week, they are possibly the best set I've owned.

I'll be able to give you a definitive answer after my round this week but these irons are incredibly solid; could be the best irons I've hit to date.

I really like my S55 irons, but I haven't hit too many irons extensively to really give them a fair comparison to some of the others out there that are said to be great.

I played with MacGregor MT irons from 1974 to 1994. They were competition blades, not that user-friendly, but when you hit it square it was heaven. This was before we had clubs divided into SGI, GI and Players.

Most of all, I really like my Callaway X20 Tours. Started out with PX 5.0 Rifle flighted shafts, but of late they were just a bit too heavy and harsh. I had them reshafted with NS Pro 8950.R-flex, 18 grams and a half-flex lighter. I'm getting a club longer distance - and more consistent distance - since reshaft.

In July, I used the reshafted 6i for a hole in one.

A close second is the TM SLDR irons. I may need the shafts lengthened a bit, as I hit a lot of shots on the toe half of the clubface. SLDRs are a shorter in shaft than the X20 Tours.

Focus, connect and follow through!
