I was watching some swings in slomo, and the discussion was wher they load the shaft! Some appeared to load the shaft at the end if the back swing, whereas others, particularly Sergio Garcia, loaded them more on the down swing? What I mean is, the shaft was loaded before the down swing initiated, whereas others, it was the aggressive downswing that seemed to load the shaft! Is this a 50/50 some do, some don't technique? Or is there a preferred method? It was only when I watched these I realise a load on the down swing as I have a slight almost non existent pause at the top! What does everyone here do?

I'm not sure there is any conscious effort to load the shaft? I think it loads as soon as you turn your body?

Dont get caught in that loading stuff AS A PRIORITY, its coming from your swing, or turn more specifically, and depending on how quick you bring it you may load early, or if slow and smooth maybe later in the swing, but loading is gonna be unique to you, and will have some effect that you will "Tune" as you keep hitting. There is more knowledge on that subject than you can shake your shaft at on this site.

Sergio has great talent, and analysts/instructors call it "float loading."

As you begin the downswing, one takes advantage of the natural gravitational floatiness (made that up) to increase the angle...

It does kinda feel like that doesnt it? But only when my spin has been cleared of bending, binding and twist tensions from my grip. Its a loose but in-plane exit of energy with nothing in the way. My regular partner has been moving into x flex shafts because he does it so well.
