What's the most famous course you've played, when, and what did you shoot?

My answer(s):
1) I played the Blue Monster at Doral and shot 81 just this past year. The Blue Monster from the blue tees, ~6800 yards. The slope rating (125) is actually lower than my home course (134/135).

2) I played Oakmont in 1996 and shot 74. It may have been my finest round of golf ever. Again from the blue tees, slope 138, and "only" 6500 yards. I hit a driver twice.

How about you?

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

In June I played at Bethpage state park in New York, black and blue courses. The black was the most fun round of golf I've ever played hands down. The rough was the thickest I've ever played in and the course was LONG . . . 7297 yards. $40 green fees to play at the site of the 02 open, just can't beat it. For the amount of play it gets, the grounds crew keeps the course in great shape. I shot a 79, not my best round, but the course was incredible. The only drawback, the course was very crowded even on a Wed and pace of play was very quick.

My only other brush with greatness was two years ago when I played at Spyglass hill. I shot a 92 from the white tees. The scenery was beautiful and the course was impeccably manicured. I'd love to go back now that I'm a better player, I know for a fact I'd appreciate it much more now.

79 at Bethpage, that's pretty impressive! My friend played there right after the Open and shot around 79 too.

My example is PGA West Stadium Course, 81 from the Championship Tees. I will break 75! Also played PGA Nicklaus and Norman. Pains in my ass, the three of them. But, I love them so.
