Question for the pros:

I have a 88-90 MPH driver swing.

I have a Stock PXv Regular xhot 11.5 driver that I has 1 inch taken off the butt end.

I have a Regular stock Taylor Made Mini driver.

I hit both clubs the same distance.. about 210 yards whyyyyyyyyy??

Without knowing more like the loft of the mini driver, some things that come to mind are that you may not be hitting up on the driver or you're making more solid contact with the TM. Another thing is that 11.5° may be too much loft for your swing speed. That coupled with chopping an inch off could make the clubs close. I think the xhot is adjustable. Have you tried playing with the loft? Also, are you losing any yardage with the driver to slice / hooks? Are you carrying both the same or are you getting different amounts of rollout? These are some things to consider if you haven't. I had a 10.5° driver that I hit poorly and a 13° 3 wood that I hit well. I was losing tons of yards with driver by hitting down on it and over fading it. A lesson helped rectify that issue and now the driver is going about 30 yards past the 3 wood consistently.

The original xhot is not loft changeable so I cannot adjust it. Maybe I screwed it up by chopping the butt end

Yes, taking an inch off is a lot. Effectively makes the shaft more stiff and you do lose a little speed by having it an inch shorter.

Also check out this thread, might help.

I will stop by Golfsmith and use a machine to get my angle of attack and see if I am hitting down more than I think. although I may end up walking out with a new driver if I go there  :)

According to GC2 my driver is generating 6000 rpm of backspin, and I am averaging 38 yards of height. So.. It's my swing. Although I did try the TM SLDR and it reduced my spin pretty significantly, it's a lot to do with my swing

Yeah that's a crazy amount of spin, something is off there but even if it's off by 2000, the spin is still too high.

That's seriously high spin. Your multishot average is 6000? That's a decent amount for a wedge; for driver it's looney tunes. Depending on loft and club, I'm usually 2000-2500 for multishot averages with this year's Callaway models that I've demoed. Are you hitting really high up the face?

I think you might want to go in for a lesson to have someone take a look. Probably better than messing around with buying new clubs if there's perhaps an underlying issue there.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
