I've noticed in the Golf Digest "What's in the bag" series that a lot of pro players alter the loft of woods and drivers. Is this an easy process or rather expensive? I know forged irons and wedges is a pretty easy change, but if done to a wood will a new shaft be needed?

Well I don't think they alter the loft of the woods, they are just made that way.

The companies make drivers(and woods) in all lofts, and the pros just pick the optimal one.
