I recently purchased a Big Bertha Alpha from rippedgolf1 on Ebay. I made sure to look at his feedback before purchasing and it seemed to check out.

I got the brand new driver in and was extremely excited, and quite frankly- wanted to show it off. I played 2 round with it, and hit one range session where I let a couple of friends and a coupe of strangers hit it. Everything seemed to be fine until the 3rd round I played. On #2, the club head went flying and my morale was ruined the rest of the round where I eventually stopped taking score it was getting so ugly (although I did get quite a bit of work done with my 3 wood.)

I proceeded to call Callaway to verify authenticity and they informed me that they did not keep a database of serial numbers as that would be no good. The representative said I had 2 options- Send it to them to verify and it would not be warrantied, or take it to my local golf shop and see what they could do for me.

So I walk into my local Golf USA and go talk to the equipment technician. We look at some prices and I am just about ready to drop $120 on a shaft and grip to get the club head back on the course when right before, I ask if we could confirm that it is real before I drop more cash on a fake club. They end up calling Callaway again and before I can explain that I have already called them and they sent me Golf USA's way... They have another $250 Fubuki ZT shaft sent my way in 5-7 business days! No questions asked.

Now I heard the GUSA associate tell the Callaway rep that I had purchased it on Ebay from a non-verified seller and I had been told previously that it was not warranted... but either I got a "new guy" or he just didn't hear that small yet very important detail... or Callaway is just that good with their customers and offers excellent service. Any thoughts or previous experiences with Callaway or anything like this?

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
