I'm going to be in Scottsdale for a week in April and was wondering if anyone has been to their performance center for a full works fitting.

I've been toying around with upgrading from my RAC OS's and have been working my way through some demo's the last couple of weeks, but am now debating whether to splurge (or have family hook me up with hot stix gift certificates for christmas ) on a full works analysis/fitting.

Any experiences appreciated.

I have not been there but...my friend and his son went there last spring. He was playing pretty high end american clubs as was his son.

First they tested all their clubs and found out their clubs were garbage. The shaft flexes ranged from ladies to XXX stiff in the same set, and in no particular order. Their lie angles were as much as 2 degrees too flat up to 3 degrees too upright, all in no order and in the same set. They then tested and fit them for new clubs. They recommended several different clubs to each to choose with the recommended shaft combo for each set. They did the same with every other club in the bag as well. The charge for this was $400 each player. Then my friend bought clubs from them. He says they were hand assembled, with the shaft frequencies matched, the shafts were pured etc. I believe each set, wedges, irons, hybrid, fairway woods and driver ended up costing about $2800 a set.

My friend said the results are amazing. His 3 iron and wedge feel and swing exactly the same. His handicap dropped from 10 to 5 in a month or so. His son, a high school senior dropped from a 4 hdcp to a plus 3, was the 2nd place finisher in the state HS championships and won a college scholarship.

a friend of mine whos playing college golf just got fitted over there, he hadnt been fit for clubs in several years. Off the top of my head he said that his shaft frequencies were alllll over the place, and the lie angles had gotten completely messed up, even his putter needed to be bent. They tossed the shafts and refit some frequency matched rifles, got all the lies back to spec, and from what he said it was a great experience. These are guys who clearly know their stuff, hey if u have the time and $$ why not give it a try??

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
