GPS APPS on the course

I used to use the Golfshot app for yardages and it was fine until I got a Garmin GPS watch for Christmas last year.  I still use the phone app for keeping score/stats but the watch is just so much more convenient to use for yardages during the round.  I've also played a couple of rounds with individuals who have range finders and it always seems like we get about the same distances give or take a yard or two.

I play with people with phone apps and the yardage usually agrees very closely with my rangefinder. I usually compare them after grabbing my finder, shooting the distance, waiting for a minute for them to give me theirs and comparing. Accuracy is not the issue. It's futzing with the phone that's the issue. I played yesterday with 10 practice swing guy and phone app guy.  It took us four hours despite a wide open course and being only three people. We did lose a lot of balls in the first cut of the rough, which is frustrating for high handicappers when it is too long, and wastes a lot of time.
