Overnight my swing went to crap. I went from hitting the ball as good as I have in a long time (had a 82 last week) to not being able to hit the ball at all. I went to the range on my lunch break yesterday to get a little "ball time" in before my match with my brother on Sunday and the wheels fell of right away. Right out of the box I started shanking the ball in a low worm burner to the right and it got worse from there. I feel like Kevin Costner in "Tin Cup". I'm either topping the ball, hitting it fat, shanking, or a dead pull. I'm so frustrated right now I feel like kicking my dog (and I love my dog). I will try to post a video latter if I can figure out how (I have a vcr that still flashes 12:00).

Beware of old dudes with old clubs and new grips.

Although it's tough to give an answer to your desription w/o seeing your swing... most of what you have described can come from a reverse weight shift and/or getting flippy with your right hand, meaning your right hand passes under your left prior to and into impact. Try to maintain a flat left wrist (back of left hand) through impact.

    • Going to go against the grain a bit here and say that pain isn't as severe as we think it is sometimes.  A lot of times if something has been there for a long time it is really neurological.  Unless a sports med tells you it's likely to tear I would keep going with physio until a doctor tells you not to.  Good luck
    • I just wanted to post an update here.. so the person telling me that information was incorrect. They mixed up two of the courses that we play during our competition rounds and the one we played last weekend was NOT a non-smoking course.  I was also wrong in thinking that he was a member of said club, but he wasn't.. he's a member of a completely different club in our tournament pool.   The course that we will play next weekend is the one with the strict smoking ban and they have stated this clearly in their local rules.  The main reason for this is that there is a very high risk of forest fires in the area where this course is located at, so it's not to promote "health and wellbeing", but purely based on safety.
