Ping i10 Irons

I have seen these ping i10 irons advertised and in numerous golf shows/magazines. I was wondering if anyone had tried them and if they do perform/look like players irons, but are as forgiving as a normal cavity design??

I'm in the process of looking for new irons, and had the opportunity to hit a bunch of balls with the i10's this weekend. Also hit the titleist 755's, and Mizuno MX-25's and MP-57's. Personally, I found the i10's to be the most forgiving of the bunch. You don't get the same soft feel of a forged cavity back, but I really, really liked the i10's, and am seriously considering having my pro put an order in this week.

I'm using I5's right now and hit some balls with the I10's. They seemed to feel like they were a little heavier in the head, maybe swingweight is different? as they are supposed to have the new "ascending weight system". They seemed a little smaller in the head size and more able to work the ball as you are more aware of the head of the club but found them to be pretty much the same as far as forgiveness and distance compared to the I5's I have right now.

I bought the ping i10 irons last week and i am not at all one bit regretful. The feel of them is great ,they sit well and are very forgiving for a club with such a small head. If you have hit the titleist 755 or cobra carbon cb, i would say the club face size is similar but i found the i10s much easier to hit.
I have only played 3 rounds with them since i got them, and all three times i have dropped my handicap.

AWT is related to the shafts, as the clubs get longer, the shafts get lighter and swing weight decreases, so in theory you can swing the longer clubs faster to generate a higher ball flight and more spin. The i10's vary from D3 in the 9 iron and PW to D0 in the long irons. It's a very good shaft and although a bit soft for higher swing speed guys many people are beginning to like it a lot.

I've had my i10's since September, and have been very happy with them. I got them after having G2's for 3 years. I bought them when I got back into golf and they were a great club, but as I played more I wanted something smaller with less offset. They fit the bill. I don't hit them as high, and they are smaller with a much smaller top line. I also really like the shaft, and the new Tour W Wedges are great too.

The i10's are for the better player who wants more feel whereas the g10 are aimed at those whose main concern is forgiveness because of the deeper cavity.

The i10's are for someone that like the s58's but wants a mid more forgiveness. In a nutshell the i10's are for good player/ball striker and the G10's are for the slightly higher handicapper. Judging by your handicap the g10's are more likely to be more suited to you

I bought S58's in september - no regrets - but i've tried the i10's (club pro bought a set - he loves them) and i think they're awesome too. I wouldn't go changing the S58's now but if i had waited another couple months i'd be torn between them!

They were previewed/reviewed in Golf World (UK mag) Oct 2007 - i quote:

G10: new cavity design to promote a higher launch and lower spin rate. An elastomer insert gives the club a solid feel and sound, and a wider sole is more forgiving on impact with the ground.

i10: for those players who prefer the look of a blade, but still rely on the forgiveness of a cavity back. The centre of gravity is closer to the face to give a lower, more penetrating flight than the outgoing G10's.

Also, Tour-W Wedge - A smaller head makes it neater and moe vesitile, but with the same forgiveness and stability. This is achieved by adding a tungsten weight into the bottom corner of the toe and more weight in the hosel. (this wedges complements the S58's)

There's also an article on Mike Nicolette - the guy who models Pings "better player" club - he beat Greg Norman in 1983 Bay Hill playoff.

hi, thanks for the suggestion, iam looking at G10, TM RAC OS and Nike slingshot OSS, which 1 do you think is better? if i going to get a G10 and when my handicap reach say 16 or 18, is there a need to change iron again? thanks in advance.

I just ordered myself a set of i10's last week. I tried all kinds of clubs but nothing felt as good as these irons. They should arrive in a few days.... I'm getting anxious.

Tomorrow I will be fitted for some new wedges. Tour-W's or maybe Vokeys - we'll see.

as for Tour-W wedge - i'm trading my vokeys in for them - haven't tried them yet but they look just like the S58's and all the reviews i've read say they're awesome!

I got my 60˚ Tour W in October and was very impressed, so traded in my 52˚ and 56˚ Tour Wedges for the same loft Tour W wedges. These 2 came in just before Christmas. We've had some snow, so our practice green was closed, so just go to try them. I went to the course yesterday and was chipping around the green with them and they are awesome! The spin they put on the ball is consistent (two hops and a check) and the feel is great too. I used each of the three wedges and in 20 minutes had holed shots with each of the three. I am very happy with them.

On the range for full shots they feel great as well. I'm very happy with my choice to buy them. I've hit Vokey's in the past (friends who have them) and I prefer the Tour W to the Vokeys. They are a great compliment to my i10's.

There would only be the need to change if the G10 no longer offered you what you needed. Like workability.

I think golfers hardly ever NEED to change, we more WANT to change

I am sort of gonig through this right now. I want the 58s, but have hit the i10s and they feel pretty much the same too me. I keep telling myelf, they are cheaper, basically the same thing, etc. But this is golf were talking about! There is no reason to give in and not get what I want, right, right?

If the s58's are what you want, buy them. If you go with the i10's, you will always be questioning if you may the right choice or not. I hit them both, but I needed the bit more forgiveness that the i10's provided me, but the s58's are a great club.

The Nike Slingshots i would advise you to buy from testing them out and from the opinion of people who use them. They are quite heavy headed and just dont compare to the TM or the Ping's. The Ping is very forgiving and i very nice club but if you are wanting to change to maybe a set of musclebacks when you get better then it mite be a goood idea to buy the TM because of the price and save your money for some nice titleists or mizunos

Because even tho the g10 maybe be a slightly better iron than the TM, the price is double. but its your choice hope this helps

Yeah, I have read good reviews on the Tour-W's as well. There are way more reviews for the Vokey's, but damn, the pings are nice looking. I will be getting a 56 and 60 of one or the other. For the past couple of years, my # of rounds have dwindled to 1-2 per month - mostly just club tournaments. Now I am already thinking about practicing more often. I never practice! These new clubs are just what I need to get into the single digits... I hope
