I only found one thread in "Introduce Yourself," which certainly seems misplaced, so I thought there should be one here.

At a friend's house the other day, talking to an occasional golf partner, he very casually says, "hey, in April, I think I'm going to get out on Pine Valley, I'll give you a call, I'm looking for a fourth." I was like, . I don't know who, how or why, and I don't care! He's a good player, told me he managed to play it about 18-19 years ago and shot 84, while a 2-handicap he was with shot 105! My friend and I looked up some pics online - the place is just filled with waste areas, bunkers and trees. What I didn't know is, there is NO OB on the course - you play out of everything. I can definitely see how a bad day off the tee can just wreck you. Even many greens seem to have no surrounding fringe/rough - just a fall-off into danger.

What I could not find out, and my friend didn't hint at, how much will it probably run me? I'm reasonably well-off but can only justify so much. $300? $500? More? I saw something online where at some point in its history, PV suspended two members b/c they were charging people $10K/round!

Anyone else actually play it? It'd be neat if we could actually assemble a thread of "inside-info" on this hallowed tract!

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

Never played it, but have played a few of the better ranked private courses on the Golf Digest list and I'd have to say that I would be surprised if the price were that high. Not floored, but mildly surprised. I would be less surprised if the guest fee were $35.

I played Murifield Village a number of years ago and the fee was less that $60, and I'm pretty sure it's still comfotably below $100. (Google says $80 and $90 without a member present). Google said nothing about Pine Valley; apparently it's looking to join some day.

i would be shocked if the guest fee was under $200.

    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
