Hello, I'm 17 years old, a junior on a highschool golf team (varsity 2). I will explain my golf journey now, I've been playing for a very long time, but took off-campus pe for golf during 8th grade, and started really trying to improve. I've played on the high school golf team since freshman year and I'm getting more and more frustrated every round. I had an instructor in 8th grade, improved some, but never saw results better than low 90s. I then went to a golf group lesson academy sort of thing, for one year, and improved to where I could shoot in the 80 consistently. I got a job and quit that program. My dad has always been telling me "you are on the edge of success with your golf game", since 8th grade, and I have never reached that. Coaches would tell me inconsistent advice that would prove short fixes and never give me a steady swing to use. I find myself trying new things on the course, take the club outside after hitting a hook, taking it inside after a fade, cocking my wrist up; even chaning my putting stroke. I constantly 3 putt, my short game is trash, and I never played consistently. Out of my 7 tournaments this year, the lowest I have shot is 88. I have gotten worse since freshman year, as I shot 74 once at a easy course tournament, but regardless a good round. I shot in the 90s, and even the low 100s. I find myself giving up on my round after I have huge blow up holes. I will have sometimes 7-8 pars, and still shoot in the high 90s. I don't know if it's because of my lack of trying, or even just my lack of guidance. I find myself asking why I'm even playing golf, but I enjoy it, I just want to play in the 70s, and play with the better kids on my team, as that is the only way to gain respect. I don't know what to do, please give me advice, I feel like I have always sucked at sports and this is just another sport, as I will never get better at golf. Thanks. On a happy note though, I got a hole in one at my home course after shooting in the high 90s in a tournament a few days before, and this was the first time my mom went out to watch me practice/play. My game truly is inconsistent.

What you need to do is analyse why and where your game is hurting you.  Do a proper analysis and work on that part of your game more than anything else.  Secondly, esnure you get proper professional coaching.  This does more to improve your game than anything else, except for loads of practice
