If you had asked me a year ago what I thought of the Bi-Matrix I would've told you it's one of my favorite shafts I've hit and certainly the best one under $100 I've tried. After this morning though my thoughts have made a complete 180.

I purchased this shaft from Golfsmith one and a half years ago and installed it in my G30. My swing speed is 118 mph with the driver and it was a good low-spin shaft to help offset the higher spinning G30 head. This morning, after only one and a half years of use (with two full winters off), the steel and graphite portions of the shaft separated. I was on the driving range warming up for a tournament when I hit a ball (I hit the sweet spot, not the hosel or anything like that) and the clubhead began to soar through the air. It landed on the rocky stream bed that was just left of the driving range (it came loose during my follow through) and trashed both the clubhead and the portion of the shaft still attached to the clubhead.

I'm in the process of contacting Golfsmith and Grafalloy about it, but in the meantime I would highly recommend against this shaft for those who may be interested. It didn't even last me two years of use before it destroyed itself (a $70 shaft) and the clubhead it was attached to ($300 driver).

Did you buy the shaft aftermarket? Or did it come from PING with that shaft?

I bought the shaft aftermarket from Golf Works (double checked where it was from and golf smith was wrong), so I'm going to call them first and see. I know if it was from PING I would be in good hands based on my experience with my irons.
