Hello everyone.

I was contemplating purchasing new clubs at the end of the season for next year.  I know it is early but I have started putting money aside so i had some more options and not really limited by price.  Planning on getting a full set of irons, driver, 3wood, maybe a few wedges.

i haven't swung any of these clubs yet. I went to the pga superstore with my ole lady today and was window shopping.  I looked and kind of practice swung a few clubs.  Didn't hit any balls because I didn't want to bore her or make her sit there for a few hours picking something out. (She actually wanted me to go there).

But anyways.  I was looking at a few sets and the callaway black Apex, the cobra f1 irons, Nike vapors, and the mizuno mp 25.

I really like the weight of the apex and Cobras. The nikes felt good in my hands along with the mp25.

Rigt now I shoot a set of cobra baffler xl. I like the clubs had them for a few years  taking golf more serious and wanted to up my clubs.  Now I shoot roughly 80-90 ish I'm gettin better from when I started this year.  For driver I got a tour edge hot launch. It is ok I recently started hitting straight so that is a co fidance builder. Not even going into a driver discussion right now I will swing one before even thinking about one.

just wondering if anyone shoots any of these clubs and had any insight of what Is a good idea what isn't.  Not worried that much about price but want to keep it reasonable.

Sorry for the long posts.

Thanks everyone

I got custom-fitted for Nike Vapor Speeds last summer. They arrived in early July, I played 10 rounds, and then reloaded my Calla X20 Tours.

For Nike VS, 7i - 9i was good, wedges really good. Irons 4-6 were a disaster - went whichever direction. Probable cause: I'm only 5-foot-8, and the irons are 3/4" to 1" longer than most irons. If you're over 6-foot, may be OK: some tall HS kids seem to do well with them.

What you've done so far: You have a short list of clubs you like. From there, get on a launch monitor and see which ones give you the best numbers. You'll end up with two or three finalists - go with the one which makes you feel most confident.

Of course: you want to make sure you have the right shaft flex, shaft length and lie angle, and grip thickness.

For Apex irons lots of people really like the first-generation Apex; if you can find a used set that fits you, try them out.

Focus, connect and follow through!

    • Day 105: mirror work today. Focused on not looping my hands at the top of the swing. Straight down.
    • Still working on the backswing a bit. Hand still gets away from the body, out towards the ball, and at A2 the club wants to roll over and get flat at A3. It's just very difficult to shallow from that position like I want. Which makes my downswing work impossible.  Backswing I have been playing around with the left leg straightening to start the backswing. It's like, a slight shove of the hips right with the left leg. Then just keep the flex in the right knee as I turn into it. I kind of like it. I never had a good swing trigger. It helps keep my left knee extended.  Yea, definitely feeling the hand path is traveling down the feet line, and straight up. A little bit of wrist rotation, and a lot more hinge sooner in the right wrist and elbow. I am trying to get the feeling that the arm hinging up then is the cause for the right shoulder to retract to finish the backswing. Club feels much more vertical at A3. I am trying to have my wrist fully hinged by then.  Feel the club and arms stop at A3.5 (my A4). If my arm collapses late, then I turn into that and I am pretty much screwed. The club and arms kind of have a floaty feeling, where they are just suspended in air for a bit, then drop.  Downswing I have been trying to think of a good visual for this mentally. I like the idea of my hands taking a wide arc to my right pocket, or I am taking the back of the hosel and trying to hit the ground behind my right foot.    Left knee stuff, just sooner.
    • Day 78 - 2026-03-10 Backswing work at the net with foam balls, a few real ball swings.
    • Day 525 - 2026-03-10 Got some work in before lessons today (was going to play after but it decided to POUR). Then like three minutes in later on.
