Well i've been trying to get a new set up clubs for sometime now, and after months of looking, I thought that I found the ones that I was looking for, the Titleist 735's, only to find out that Titleist is no longer making them, and the only place to find them is in stores that still have a set in stock from over 3 months ago or on the web. So after the guy that I was going to get my clubs fitted from told me this, i tried some other clubs, the 755, 695cb's and mb's as well as the Taylormade r7 TP's and Rac forged. The fitter was very bias in the way that he like Taylormade much more than Titleist, because he found out that Titleist will not be making anymore forged heads, only cast iron which I think is total bs, cuz the zm's are forged...right? Anyways he also thought that it would be wrong to put me into a full set of blades because, he thought my ball flight was too low, even with rifle shafts in them. But my golf coach is telling be that I should be getting into blades so that I can take my game to the next level (which is another reason why im so confused)

So out of the clubs that I tried, I liked the 755's and the 695mb's the best, so I was going to do a combo set between those two sets of clubs, the price to do this would be around $900, which is right around the same as it would be to go out, get a set of the 735's and get those custom fit from this club fitter.

Someone help im soooo confused

First off its not your fitters choice on what you should buy its what feels best to you. The fitter is there to tell you what your loft lie and angles should be of the new set so you can get them custom fit for your swing. He may be saying what he likes better b/c he gets a bigger commission out of those clubs of he may not be. As for Titleist not making forged clubs anymore I don't see that happening since many clubs coming out are forged. As for blades vs. cavity backs in my opinion it doesn't matter. The 3 pros that I work with at my golf club all play cavity backs. It's just what feels more comfortable to you. Take your fitters numbers put them in the clubs you want and enjoy golf. All there is to it.

Titleist will still have plenty of forged options in 2008.

Pick the one that fits you the best, nuts to what everyone else thinks.

With that said, I would strongly advise against a combo set of 695 MP and 755. Just too different in terms of playability, they won't jive together in my opinion. If I were in your shoes I would stick with one or the other.

Neither your golf coach nor your fitter is right. Many PGA Tour pros never played muscle backs, I don't think they need much help getting their game to the next level. Go with what works best for you, don't be swayed by anyone else. Steve Stricker is number four in the world right now and plays some darn good golf with 755's.

Find a retailer with a Titeist account even if you want a set of 695MB and 755 it should be no where near $900 - more like $800 tops.

Hmmm,

Interesting. Why did Titleist disco the 735cms? Lack of retail sales? I just picked up a set about a month or so ago and I love them. Oh well, I guess I better be more diligent counting my clubs before I leave each golf course. I don't want to be SOL if I lose a club.

Either that or I'll see what's new for '08...

another option...

755 3-5
695 cb/mb, (your choice) 6-pw.

or, if you wanna go tm.

same, just with r7 tp's 3-5
and muscle backs 6-pw.

honeslty, non one needsmuscle back long irons. You really dont need to be sahping the shot of a 3, or even four iron, and really, EVERYONE could use a little extra forgivness.

if you do end up going with a pure set, get th 755's. they make your work, but wont kill you on a bad day.

As far as I can see the new ZB cavity backs are forged, the AP2's are forged, the ZM's are forged. The new rac TP's are going to be forged too. Your fitter needs to get his facts straight hope this helped

    • This is my second year playing golf, I started last season but have always struggled with a slice. I've tried multiple things to try and fix the slice: Closing the face. Rotating my right hand out or clockwise in the grip. Keeping the club head low in my back swing. Focusing on a straight swing path. Trying the straighter arms like Bryson D. (as seen in the videos above) Trying to not let me hips get too far ahead of my down swing. Trying to keep my shoulders down until after I've made contact with the ball. Etc. I recently changed to the straighter arms which has helped me adjust away from such a drastic slice. So it has helped a bit. Before that, I was trying to keep the club head low in the back swing and this was the most helpful in correcting the slice, however it drastically removed power and distance in the strikes and would even sometimes result in a hook. About a couple months ago I had a single lesson with my driver and learned some helpful things, but have since struggled to perform what I learned well. One of the things in the lesson was to keep my shoulder down more in the the down swing until after making contact with the ball. This would help the slice a bit, sometimes drawing the ball. To even it out, I was instructed to rotate my hips a bit earlier in the down swing. What I have noticed however with the earlier hip rotation is that it's really hurting my lower back a lot. Since backing off on that it's helped not injure my low back as much. I believe my main issue might possibly be the swing path, being a Pull Slice.   See above, was mid typing when you posted. I have never watched Moe Norman's swing to be honest. I have never measure my hip rotation, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on that after you read about my hip rotation / back pain issue.
    • Two questions… Are you trying to swing like Moe Norman? What's your hip turn like? Have you ever measured it?
