How about a face-on view?

Mind your angles, too: https://thesandtrap.com/b/playing_tips/filming_your_swing .

Sure thing!

I got out to the range Sunday afternoon and tried to get some better video. It's all iPhone unfortunately but that's all I have to work with.

Both of these are with a five iron.

I hit the ball well that day, but contact was inconsistent at times both thin and fat.  I was really working on staying centered and on alignment, as those are the things that consistently sneak up on me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's the deal as I see it…

First:

Your alignment is less than good here. It's important to learn how to film your swing and then stick to it seriously.

Now then… your clubface rotation after impact (and your forearms, etc.) can lead to wiping across the ball more than you normally would, as a high overtaking rate like that will often send the path left. If the face is a little open, you get a wipey cut.

Look at how little your body's moved from the left image to the right, while your arms have moved quite a bit (particularly in rolling over):

Watch this video:

It doesn't particularly address the issue, but the drill will still be beneficial. Note how and where I finish: with long arms, not rolled over, and my body continues to pivot through.

Thanks for the advice. Sorry about the less than stellar angles. Everything you said makes a ton of sense. I've noticed that my body stops after impact but never have been able to make it change. I'll put the drill into practice.

Feel as though you "hit it with your body" and your arms are just kind of attached, not doing as much themselves.

Gotcha. I've used that feel in the past, although with a different goal in mind. Just to clarify, I'm trying to use my body to drive the club through impact and not let the club head overtake my hands and finish with long arms?

Yeah.

The clubhead will overtake your arms. Just try to do it less.

Right now your body stalls so the clubhead HAS to pass, and does so very quickly.

Makes sense! Thank you. Is there a reason my body is stalling?

You've trained yourself to do that. You're a bit out of sequence. That's all.

@iacas would the flighting wedges thread help with this? 3/4 swing holding off the end? would certainly get the feel of not rolling the arms over as hard?

Yeah, it could, but you don't need to "flight" all your shots. It's a similar feeling, though, yeah.
