are you referring to the 11 models on their website?

they're not all new - in fact i think the CGBmax and maybe the Burner Draw are the newest and they were out last year...

R7 460 & TP about 2 years old
R7 Draw was out before last season?
SQ, SQTP, Burner and Burner TP were out last Jan?

yep they do change a lot, same as any big company really. Titleist, Callaway, Ping etc all have a new driver (or 2) every season too.

its part technology and part marketing - they come up with somethin new (whether it's moveable weights, a black/red clubhead, a light & longer shaft, a draw bias etc.) and we will be foolish enough to believe it!

It's for all those people who are convinced that a new driver will magically fix their game...which it does for about two weeks, whereupon they need another new driver.

Companies need to stop putting left bias into their supposedly standard/straight setups. (And TP versions cost money). My miss off the tee is already a duck-hook.

Tried the CGB Max or whatever at Golfsmith, give me a break, $500!!!

Whatever...

Too many adjustments lead too to much indecision IMHO.

Spend the $500 on lessons.

Quite true but nothing wrong with that, it's good marketing.

How ironic, given your first statement. Maybe you ought to fix your swing.

As long as we keep buying the drivers, they will keep making the clubs, Taylormade aren't changing too much, the consumer is buying too much, consumers control the market not the company selling the product.

My perspective is: Who cares?

Every manufacturer comes out with something new every year it seems. We don't need the newest piece of technology. How much better will our game get by spending an extra $200-$500 every year? Now if your driver is 3-4+ years old, I'd think about buying a new(er) one, because the technology has changed significantly during that period. Don't want to spend $500? Get a used one that's a year or two old. - A model that everyone raved about back then. You can't go wrong, provided if course that it's matched to your swing.

Bottom line: Find something that works well for you and hold on to it. Then spend your money on lessons or more practice rounds!

To be honest, I cannot imagine parting with my superquad, ever , no matter what they come out with next. I'm sure there are lots of folks on the SandTrap who would second that opinion about whatever they're currently using / in love with!

I have to say that I love my r7 SuperQuad! I have hit many drivers over the past few years and I can't say that I have had half the confidence or control with all of them combined as I do with the r7 on an average day. Maybe that's just me but I can't see switching anytime soon.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
