This looks like a great forum to hang out in so here I am. I live in Florida and don't get to play golf nearly enough but I love the game and will read about it or watch it on TV whenever possible. In the past couple of years of been working on going from my old power (read: no control) game to a more controled and smarter game. It's been ugly but I'm almost there .
I play Mizuno irons, Cleveland wedges, Callaway 3 wood, Hogan hybrid, Taylor Made R5 driver, and either a ProV1 or Pinnacle Exception ball. So you can see I have no alliances to any mfg . Oh, and for now they're in a Nike bag...
I look forward to joining in every now and then even though I'm mostly a lurker.

Welcome! I like the handicap index... makes me feel like a pro. As far as what you've got in the bag, use what you like... there is so much great equipment around these days. Wish I had a second income just for equipment purchases.

Hi from the other side of the country.

Thanks for the welcome. I guess I'm kinda sandbagging on that handicap but I haven't kept up with mine for a couple of years so what the heck.
I don't think I've ever really realized how mixed up my bag is until I put it into words . I started with a full set of Callaway woods but have replaced the driver (sometimes I put the 5 wood back in the bag) but I love that 3 wood too much. I was going to get a Fli-Hi, to stick with Mizuno, but after hitting every utility/hybrid I could get my hands on I kept going back to the Hogan. I may never look at my clubs the same now....

Welcome. If your former swing is 100%, what would you say you're swinging at now to gain more control?

Good question. I'd say around 80% would be a close guess. It's tough to quantify because the biggest difference is tempo. The swing now feels slower because my tempo is much better (usually), although I don't think my swing speed has changed much.

This looks like a great forum, just what I need over my holidays to keep me busy! Just need some nicer clubs now my mom won't chip in so got to pay for them all by myself!

Maybe if I match the FL Cash 3 Results I could get some awesome clubs?!

I will just have to use my dirty old clubs for now . Do you think older dirty clubs effect performance? I went to the driving range the other week and I'm not going to lie the grooves in my irons are filled with dirt just wondered if that effects performance and would be causing a poor ball flight, or if it's just me!

    • A strong grip cups the wrist (lead) and then it wants to flatten through impact, something I used to be able to avoid to keep it from going left and protecting my forearm (the main premise of my set up). Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?
    • Day 47 - 2024-11-16 Light backswing work with about 3 or 4 rehearsals for every ball hit. Only about ten minutes while waiting for a potential member to show up (he was 25 minutes late). 😛
    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter
