Hi,

Long story short: I need outdoors Trackman swing data for a research project. If you have any and you are willing to share, please send them to me at julius.madsen@gmail.com as a PDF or whatever format you prefer.

The slightly longer story: I am a computer science student currently following a course in machine learning. During the course there are three projects in which I have to analyze and apply various methods to a dataset. I would very much love to work with the golf swing from the perspective of machine learning, and I think that data from Trackman would be a perfect fit to do so.

I tried to reach out to Trackman (their headquarters is 10 minutes from where I live), but they cannot give me any data as this is owned by their users. I do not currently have access to a Trackman device myself.

Hence my request here. if you have Trackman swing data and you are willing to share it with me, I would be forever grateful! The data must be measured outside, but other than that I have no requirements - it doesn't matter if you are a scratch golfer or a 40 handicapper, the quality of your golf swing is not important.

I believe that data can be exported from Trackman to PDF, but if any other data formats are possible (Excel, CSV, JSON or whatever) that is fine for me as well.

You can send me the data at julius.madsen@gmail.com and of course I will follow up in this thread if there are any questions or comments.

I really hope that some of you who have the opportunity will take a moment to help me out. It would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards,

Julius

Being it's February and most likely below freezing in the majority of the US, obtaining this data will be limited.
You may obtain data by searching the site or internet for results.

I did a quick search and here are a couple of links which may or may not be specific related.

Could you enlighten us with specifics of you research?

It doesn't have to be recent data. Data from summer or whenever is just as good :-)

I have spent several hours searching the internet for data with no luck so far. The links you mention make for interesting readings, but I see no raw data for me to use.

Nothing groundbreaking! The main purpose is simply to apply various machine learning techniques taught in the course. My initial thoughts are to investigate what effect the different factors of the golf swing has on the ball flight. Probably all known stuff but my aim is not to make any new discoveries.

Just curious what type of information you are trying to extract?

The dataset for Trackman is not that feature rich so that’s why I wonder?

Did you try searching for Ping Man and Iron Byron Mechanical Golf Robot?

Building a data base from a limited source may not achieve results of any significance.
I'm sure you may find answers with other sources of searching, good luck with your project.

    • Day 206 3-11 Focused on wider backswing and reconnecting arm in downswing. Wasn't really happy with how swing was looking today. Wider backswing is very different for me. Went back to do a some longer pauses at the top. Hit a few foam balls.
    • This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score
    • Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage. • Things that I am or have worked on... 1.    Trail Elbow - Check 2.    Hip Turn - Check 3.    Rolled Inside - Check 4.    Wide Takeaway - Check 5.    Sway and Tilt - Nope, but I did a hip turn and tilt 🤣 I am giving myself 4.5/5 for my long backswing.  Great post!
    • We have a very difficult but mostly showy course this week. Lets see what they got. This course offers so many chances to get into trouble it is really a mental minefield. I am excited to see who can handle it and who cant. Last year we got a foreshadowing of JJ and Rory, I am excited for this year Who do people have winning? what will the winning score be? I am thinking 12 or 13 under
