  1. At least it distracts them a time from dreaming up some "green" tax or "fat" tax.
  2. I tried the Big Bertha and they were a super iron. I was looking for the next progression from high game improvement to a just a game improvement iron. If you are looking for more game improvement iron than the x-20, the big berthas are an excellent choice. Just a side note. The service and attention I got from the callaway van over 3 visits at 2 locations was incredible. I know they are there to help/sell but I think they were more than patient with me. I never felt like I was getting a sales pitch. They also asked many questions about what I was looking to get out of my iron and didn't just throw me into a set.
  3. I just got a set of x-20s about two week ago and I love them. It may just be the fact that I was professionally fitted but they were my favs before I was fitted. I spent two days at a demo weekend and the x-20s stood out to me. The Clevelands CG 4s were also a very nice iron.
  4. You sound like you have the same problem I did. At my fitting I was getting too much spin/high launch. I was fitted with the proforce v2 stiff/ft-5 draw and I love it. Lowered spin and ball flight has a really good feel. The callaway fitter had me try several stiif shaft and the V2 gave em the best result along with a good feel. BTW, swing speed was 98 for me.
  5. I read an article somewhere recently that talks about your average high to mid handicapper getting more spin from some of the new alternative cover balls than the current urethane balls.
  6. I have used the D2 feel for a while now. I switched from Noodles. The D2 feels more lively than the Noodles and the have decent spin. Great value ball at a buck each. I flip flop around with balls just to try something different. I also like the Wilson 50/50. They seem to spin more than the D2. I have only used them for one round so far.
  7. I had the problem of going into melt down mode. Once it started I would spiral for several holes, usually to the turn. can now ( most of the time ) keep that to a one hole event. Most train wrecks start as a small problem, then get worse. Here is my past week's train wreck. ( Par 5 ) Good drive, pull second shot into left rough. I'm only 160 out, so I try to muscle a shot out of the thick stuff and it is basically goes 30 yards and stays in the crap. Hit my approach wide. Hit a flyer over the green out of the nasty rough, chip on and two putt. Nice triple. Hind site should have chiped back into the fairway and hit my approach from there. Could have been ~120 out and on in 4 instead of 6. Most of my train wrecks are 70% mental/bad choice of shots 30% ability/ I try to hit a shot I don't have a very good chance of making. Getting the mental and physical side in sync can be a task in its self.
  8. I was told at a demo day this weekend that the shaft kick points are different. The TP should give you a lower ball flight. I hit both and it did give me a lower ball flight but I was not as impressed with either as I hoped. It was my driver of choice going to demo day and ended up finishing about 4th or 5th on my list.
  9. I have both and I use the skycaddie 99% of the time on the course. I find myself using the laser for driving ranges that are not mapped. Here are some thig I like about the sky caddie: 1)with the intelli green feature you can move the cross hair to a spot on the green and get a very acurate distance. I can also get a good reading if I miss the green wide or long and I'm way below the hole and cannot see the flag 2) at a glance I can see 4 different points and their distance 3) ease of use. I can hand it to my buddie as he tromps off after his ball and he can just read the to the green/flag reading. I don't how many times they try and use the laser and have an issue. It is not the laser's fault, just not as intuitive as big number on a screen. You can't go wrong with either, IMHO, it is a personal preference.
  10. This thread kinda surprises me. Taking range balls marked "range balls" is flat out stealing. For all the grief that is given about following rules ( don't roll your ball etc ) and it being a game of honor, stealing is by far a worse infraction. Just an observation on my part.
  11. Any one try it yet ?? I did a demo day and I really liked it. I was amzed at its performance, looks and price. Comes with a proforce V2 shaft. It had great feel. I tried about 6 or 7 drivers and kept coming back to this one. I think I may go back this afternoon and pick one up.
  12. FYI, I had a set of wedges built last year and was charged $5 per club for spine orientation.
  13. Mine is my pitching wedge (48). I use it on all ind of shots from 120 in. I hit way to high from 100+ yrds but I love it when I need a good shot.
  14. My Footjoy E-comforts are like slippers. Love 'em My Adidas power bands have great stability and support. Adidas Clima Cools in the dead of summer. Very cool but I would not want to walk 18 in them.
  15. No brainer for me. Dad His Dad My Son Me If could have a 5 some add my mom's mom.

    Sunglasses

I have had a sponorship with several sunglass companies thru my cycling teams. I bet I have 30 pairs lying around the house. Rudy Project are my favs. Their warrenty is rock solid Tifosi are by far the best value going. If I was paying full price these would be at the top of my list. The Tifosi glasses today are eons better than the ones I had a few years ago. Oakley are nice but their warrenty and prices kill them for me. They do have the most styles available and I still wear a the few pairs I have left.
  17. +1 Lots of hair metal and some select new tunes. I also wear my IPOD when I play alone.
  18. Front right => cash front left => divot tool, guitar pick for ball marker right rear => xtra ball sometimes or stat book left rear => usually nothing My tee is tucked in my hat just in front of my right ear.
  19. Most 'shanks' are exactly that. You hit the ball with the shank of the club head. Moving away from the ball a little can help but you do see it alot on less than full swing shots. IMHO, my shanks come from lazy mechanics on an 'easy' swing.
  20. The biggest contributing factor to slow play is the Pro V1 I'm being a little tounge and cheek but I see soooo many people using $40+ dozen balls and then spending 10 minutes looking for theirr $4 ball on every third hole, it just kills me. My tolerance is about 2 minuts once I reach the site of my shot. If I take a prolong look for my ball it affects my game. As for seniors, my g-pa is 80+ and plays as fast as anyone. A few groups at my local course ( play on M-W-F at 10am ) do not and will not allow anyone to play thru. Just shows you cannot generalize (sp?) Just a basic lack of understanding of the game kills play time. If your only true exposure to golf is Sunday TV and you hit the links once a month you don't get what golf is really like. For those of us who grind out 36 and practice before/after of both a 4.5 hours plus round just kill us.
  21. I put my tippy toe straight on the ground, even with my left heel about 12-18" apart. This drill does the following for me. 1) slows my pace. My problems start when my pace quickens. 2) makes me cock my wrists, if I don't it feels like I'm hitting a brick and get no distance 3) makes me have a good shoulder rotation, same reason as above 4) keeps my lower body quiet and in time with my swing. I tend to get my body way ahead of my swing and it cause a pull. With my foot back it leaves a lot of room for my swing to have a clear inside path. I do feel it promotes a more single plane swing but I would need to video tape it to know that is correct.
  22. My thoughts too. Tiger's wedge is deadly. I think it was a total mental mistake or maybe he figured I'm Tiger I can do it. A birdie on that hole starts to put pressure on Zach and shot in the water give Zach a boost both in lead and mentally. The risk reward factor was not there for that shot.
  23. Check out this thread. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5352 I had the same thing happen. We had a cold snap this spring and I missed getting out for about 3 weeks. When I made it back out I had nothing. Just crappy shot after crappy shot. I used the toe up drill and soon saw that I was just out of sync. My pace, body movement ,take away was just wacked. This drill really makes you simplify your swing and not think. You have to be smooth and quiet or you fall over. I too had waaaay too many thing on my mind. For me ( being a hacker ) keeping things simple are a big help. I cannot think during my swing. I need to be in a groove. Give it a try ,as it has helped me alot oer the last week, and let me know what you think.
  24. I use the inside appraoch. 39.99 wit 3 dvds at Dick's Sporting goods. I was pleasently surprised. The dvds have a lot of other drills on them. They have drill for sliding your weight too much, takeaway and down swing path and quit a few other. Well worth 39.99.
  25. They told me to go buy a bowling ball, go figure
