Clubs are habitual liiars , I am sure you have heard some of their tall tales...... Just buy me, I will hit further then your old clubs or the old stand by , I would never let you slice your ball I am the straightest club ever made... The list goes on. Just pick up any golf mag and look at the manufactures ads. They list all the famous club lies. Oh and my favorite club lie...... I have the largest sweet spot and I want you to hit it. ( or was that the lie I heard in the other club ? ) As to how one goes about checking or confirming the clubs heads angles you need an angle gauge or take them to a golf shop and have them measured.

Just goes to show that idiots are timeless, he posted that 2 years ago and has not been online in over a month. But I am sure Fraser still knows that guys that guy was an idiot. Blows my mind when I see people not fix there divots or ball marks. Yes I fix mine and will fix others.

As a former race car driver I broke my neck twice. Several surgeries over 20 years has left me with 2 disc in my neck fused and a 6 inch titanium plate with 6 screws keeping my cervical spine together. I have lost about 50% of the range of motion in my neck, can't look up or down and instead of being able to turn my head to look at my shoulder 90* I can turn to about 45* degrees. This has limited my back swing because I can't keep my head looking down at the ball when my shoulders rotate. Aside from the the residual pain in my neck the real challenge is the nerve damage has my left my right hand and partial arm with very little feeling. ( feels like when your arm falls asleep and is numb ). So with no feeling in mynright hand and arm I have to look at it to make sure it is doing the correct thing. Needless to say keeping a consistent swing is difficult and my distance is shorter then it could be if I could get a full swing looking at the ball. But I have learned to play with it to a descent level of a 9.6 HCI ....shooting an 80 feels like a victory to me The biggest bummer is that I can't carry my own bag and have to ride a cart. Even so a round of golf leaves me on the heating pad for the rest of the day.

I just posted in the other burner vrs r9 thread but what the heck. I play the burner TP and also have a set of burner plus, to me, they play very similar.. I have been wanting a new set of clubs primarily because I don't really like the chunky look of the burners. I love the way the r9 looks but just wasn't stoked on the way I was hitting it and I think subconsciously I am afraid of the low score they have on Maltby playability factor, one of the lowest scores of any club. http://www.golfworks.com/images/art/2010MPFRatingsChart.pdf I do like the black look of the burner 2.0 and have hit them on the indoor video deal at golf galaxy. They compare to my current burners so I can't justify the cost just to have black clubs. I would like to see how the black holds up after some time, I would be concerned they look shabby once they get some usage. Playability wise, I like the burners just fine. Also.....TM has 3 new clubs coming out in march according to their website.

I feel ya, I play the burner tp and also have the burner plus. I love the looks of the r9 but find them to not suit my swing. If you use the mpf as a guide the burners are in the 525 range , and the r9 is among the lowest scored club made today at a 97. http://www.golfworks.com/images/art/2010MPFRatingsChart.pdf Depending on the mizunos you have they are probably in the 350 range of playability. Between the 2 you listed, I would choose the burners...... But you really need to head to a golf shop with a video range and swing a few different sets to see for yourself. Personally I wish I would have gotten callaway x24 but couldn't afford them at the time. Hang on to those mizunis, after you get a swing groved and can ball strike consistently you may want to go back to them. Oh and read stack and tilt, in my opinion it is the fast track to developing and understanding a repeatable swing. Sure changed my game for the better, dropped my scores from the 105 to 80 in 4 months with some reasonably hard work and dedication.

I searched first, lot's of handicap threads but didn't see my answer. How many of you guys are carrying an official USGA handicap index vrs. Some other method of coming up with the number ? If you don't have an official USGA index do find playing partners less willing to accept the number ? If you do have an official USGA index, what do you use it for ? Entering pro-ams, wagering ' ect ? my goal for 2011 is to establish an official USGA hci , just curious how many people actually use it and for what.

Doesn't sound like you "need" anything, stash it away until you can get out and play. Then treat yourself to a few rounds at that nice course you have always wanted to play.

Cutting 1" Off My Standard Length Irons?
Camo replied to grn.eyed.bandit's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Are you still chokeing down ? Sounds to me like you would be fine if you are not choking down on the now shortened club. But if you are still choking down on now shorter shaft then yes you would most likely have lost yardage.....simple solution.... Don't choke down anymore. -
I suppose it doesn't surprise me that the Chinese would be able to beat the OEM to market with their new product release but I am somewhat shocked at the price. I guess they have to strike while the iron is hot. for reference you can get a $300 scotty cameron china putter for $87 brand new and a typical knockoff or forgery driver club head is around $50 brand new from the MFG. http://cgi.ebay.com/100-New-TaylorMade-R11-Driver-head-10-5-2011-/320636005839?pt=Golf_Clubs&hash;=item4aa7652dcf#ht_204wt_550

I don't know where you where planning on going in Texas but for sure I would not go to Dallas in January. I have to go every year in Jan on business and it is typically cold and miserable. not to mention the vegetation is dormant brown. not very appealing if you ask me. Average min temp in Dallas for Jan is 36.4 http://www.idcide.com/weather/tx/dallas.htm as far as crazy goes... no it is not crazy to fly some place for the weekend to golf..... I can golf at home here in Nor Cal but I am flying to Palm Springs this weekend to golf... just make sure that where you are going is worth the effort... and Dallas in Jan seems like a poor choice.

not sure if you read my post or not....but anyhow... because of this thread I picked one up used for $10 to try out. I would recommend it to you as well. it is definitely worth a little bit of effort for the experience. then you will know for yourself. I am certainly glad I did.

Yes they each have their own personality, but if you cave in and cater to their whims then pretty soon you will find yourself spending all your time time running errands for them and honey do lists..... I tell ya, you need to establish who is boss and because they are hard headed they seem to respond best to threats of violent exclusion from your bag. There is no worse punishment for a club then to left out of the bag and not played. It makes them sad and they will behave properly if you are able to convince them that you really will toss them in that pond on the 3rd hole.
-
To properly break in a new club it is important to establish who is boss. I find it beneficial to have a sit down talk with them. Preferably by the pond at your course. Let them know they are heavy metal clubs and don't know how to swim, there fore if they get a funny idea of not performing to your expectation that you will be forced to throw them in that pond and drown them. That usually keeps them obedient for awhile, but in find I some times need to remind them by threatening to smack em up against a tree if they start misbehaving. Best of luck.

So this thread got me thinking about what I play ( TM burners ) and what kind of feed back they were giving me and if I could be improving or at least perfect my swing with a club with more feed back. So today I stopped by the golf shop and picked up a used 6 iron titleist 690 mb forged blade. After hitting about a 100 balls off my backyard mat into the net I think the question was asked incorrectly..... It should be ..... Why play a blade....lol Yes of course the blade provides much more feed back and your mis hits FEEL much worse and that is cool, but here is the kicker for me. My well stuck shots are no better then with the GI I will admit, the blades definitely look better, and I don't mean mean in a fashion sense, I mean they are more pleasing design at ball address. I think I will keep practicing with this club and see if I can improve my swing accuracy and consistency. edit for update.. After hitting another couple hundred shots with my test iron and finding the sweet spot it has become clear to me where the term sweet spot came from. until you hit a blade on that spot you just have not felt the pureness of a golf shot. it is truly sweet. like the ball was made from warm butter....... headed off to bay to find a full set of 690MB to practice with...LMAO

Increasing club-head speed - suggestions
Camo replied to squaddie's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I I am hesitant to post here because I am far from a knowledgable instructor or even an amature swing technician. Other then reading stack and tilt I am completely self taught. However you mentioned something that I experienced so I will offer what I went through. You say you focus on keeping your left arm straight. I suspect that subconsciously you bend your left arm to avoid crashing the club into the ground, that lack of confidence will also keep you from swinging at full speed. There is a tid bit on this in the S&T; book and as soon as I read it a light bulb went off for me. It took a concentrated effort for me to over come but once I did it cured my issue. I should note, I have broken my neck twice and have had several spine surgeries and my neck is fused and plated.... So for me the whole crashing the head into the ground was a major issue. But still, my brain was not allowing my body to swing full speed and bending the left arm was the safety mechanism.... Anyhow, give it some thought and take them divots. -
The fact that she is "furious" that he is having some success should be a clue to where she is coming from. A spurned women is not to be trifled with.

We recently played a high brow country club from the blues and 2 in our group should have probably been playing from the junior tees if not stayed on the driving range, lol. But they didn't want to play a different set of tees then us so they played the blues, anyhow the group behind us saw the awesome display of talent and actually complained to the course Marshall. He came and had a word with us to inform us the "member" behind us had complained that it didn't seem like we belonged on the blues. He actually laughed and said F$@% that clown, you guys paid your money, play from where ever makes you happy. Enjoy your round. We were not holding up the group behind us and were often waiting on the group ahead of us. My point being..... Play from where you like. ( as long as doesn't hold up the flow of the round behind you. ) On my home course we play from all of the tees, even the womens just to keep it interesting since we play it 2 or 3 times a week. I have a favorite tee for each hole as it definitely changes the way the course plays. If I am playing a new course or one I don't play often I will usuually play from what ever color is the middle. If I am playing with my wife I will play from the front tees.

Need a new R9 Supertri shaft, mine has a Ladies flex
Camo replied to wagar2's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
This should help you choose a suitable shaft http://www.golfworks.com/article.asp_Q_ai_E_496 -
Rather then buy a bunch of stuff you don't want put the money to good use with the charity of your choice. http://www.charitygiftcertificates.org/

I was going to give the wife ( who also happens to be 5'9" to my 6'3" ) my old burner irons until I read Maltbys word on irons http://www.ralphmaltby.com/96 and I decided to get her a set of womens clubs since what she has now is mens hand me downs. I look at it this way, the more she enjoys the game the more I enjoy the game, and that is worth the price of admission. not sure how Maltbys concepts relate to drivers, but at a bare minimum i would have the correct shaft put on the R9 for her. oh and , when is the R11 due out ? I to am eager to give it a go.

Thanks for the input , talked to her about and we are going to pay GG for a fitting and then have a custom set built. Gonna take a pass on the women burners as I think theynare going to be to short for her. Doing some research and it sounds like having hireko golf build a custom set of their xp905 womens clubs with Acer graphite shaft and pink Winn grips may be the ticket....lol 6,7,8,9 iron P,& SW 4, 5 hybrid 3 wood Ti driver Pink cart bag http://www.hirekogolf.com/hireko/orderportal/catalog_presentation/by_group/0/730/0/0/0/0/0 For around $500 sounds like the smokin deal

Fair enough. My hunch is that they are not very common. Best of luck locating another owner of one. Just out of curiosity, what is your interest in the bag ? Looking to start a snickers golf club ?

Emulating Jack Nicklaus short game isn't the worst thing a newb could do. 20 yards is out there but I will putt from well off the green if the setup is there. Jacks advise is: Always use the putter, if you can't putt then chip , pitching is your last resort. Try it some time on the practice green from 10 feet off the fringe. 3 balls each club and see your own results. I fancy myself a damn fine technician with a lob wedge and even so , putter gets it closer more consistently....... Putt when you can,, even if makes your buddies cringe .lmao

Common sense tell me it is a limited edition just from the fact it is a branded bag, not something you are likely to see for sale at a retailer. What is it worth ? That one is apparently worth $325 if you are willing to pay that. My guess is that bag was made for a corporate event and given to V.I.P. 's I have been on several corporate outings as media and it is not uncommon to get cool swag like that bag as a gift. Send the guy an email and ask where he got it. If it was a gift I bet he will take considerable less for it.
