  1. Did anybody happen to see the Golf Magazine June issue? In the your game section there is an article called how to fix your death move. Maintain your right knee flex yo blast your irons longer than ever. Best two things I got from you guys is to let it straighten and flare my feet. Mags and tips can driven you crazy.
  2. I voted yes. I like his style of play and his not being of the cookie cutter variety in his golf swing. Twisting and turning all over the place is so different. I followed him up close twice at the Travelers in Hartford, CT. Seems to be a very tense individual while playing. Little or no interaction with anybody other than his caddy, who he appears to complain to or berate often. I don't know him but he seems to offset this intensity with some quirky and fun things other than golf. Shows his emotions and cares for his family and friends a lot in what he says and does. Commendable. Quite a sight to see when he cuts a ball 300 yards. So much power in such a skinny body, its amazing!
  3. Been working on the drill. I assume it's to help acquire a better shoulder turn in the backswing. Winter I think has come to an end and I now can golf yeah!! I have a question in the full swing should I strive to keep the left heel planted in the backswing?
  4. Got a good tip years ago from long distance runners. Most of them are not drinking straight water on a very hot day. They mix Gatorade with water 50/50. Too much water alone flushes out the electrolytes your body has lost. Almonds, cashews, a protein bar or trail mix works great. I even bring along a peanut butter and jelly sandwich sometimes.
  5. If you still want an R7 ST 3 wood, contact me?
  6. Tour Edge Exotics CB2 3 wood is a bomber. A great option off the tee on bad driver days. I will also say that the V-steel is a great club. Another solid performer is the Cleveland Launcher.
  7. When I see the pro's in person and on TV, first thing I see is how still they remain while being able to turn so far in their backswing. I got a little off topic and perhaps was a little unclear in suggesting that the right knee straightening was only for flexibility challenged individuals to adopt. Your thread shows many supple players doing it. Sorry for clouding it up a bit.
  8. The flexibility of the pro's is so much more than the typical amateur. The amount of coil they can achieve with less hindrances is so obvious. Any amateur, may need to bend their left elbow, lift their left heel, flare feet and straighten their back legs, to allow a decent backswing of sufficient depth. Some of these things might create too much of a good thing for the pro's. Trying to emulate what they do is a futile task for most of us. Sure if you are young, supple and your shoulders have not been affected in a bad way from work or sports then keep it bent and see if it helps. I just think more of how Sam Snead swung a club is easier on most of us in the long run.
  9. Wow! You posted a link to the bible of training for me. Bill Starr's 5 x 5 was the program I adhered to the most.
  10. You are right. Should have read the whole mini-rant more closely. Good points in that.
  11. Not enough time in my life to be a range rat and besides due to the couple points you make about hitting too many balls I don't like to do range work. Due to time constraints, two week nights of 9 hole league play and 18 holes on Sunday is about all I can manage. I do work on the things advised here for me and use an orange whip trainer in between now. Playing for the first time tomorrow in CT. Layers of rust to remove but it will be great to get out.
  12. I find yellow golf balls the easiest to see and find on the course. My favorite is the Bridgestone E6. Nice to use something different from the other fellows you play with.
  13. I have never practiced that way. Tend to do everything full speed. I am going to do this with what you advised for me in my swing. It makes perfect sense. I work in Physical Therapy and often have to teach people how to mobilize out of beds/chairs, climb steps, and exercise. I always make them do it correctly in a slow manner. I never think to do that with my golf swing. Thanks.
  14. Have you ever seen how far off the ball Nicholas Colsaerts stands? I am more comfortable and have better results setting up similar to you. Otherwise, I feel tight and restricted .
  15. My top five: 1. Person of Interest 2. NCIS 3. Vikings (The History Channel) 4. Revolution If we are including shows no longer on the air that one top the list.
  16. My top shows: 1. Person of Interest 2. Chicago PD 3. NCIS 4. Vikings 5. Blue Bloods 6. Americans I anxiously await the return of one of my all time favs - 24 in May.
  17. Tough to find but tryout a set of Bridgestone J40 DPC irons. Beautiful midsize set of nice feeling irons. I have the J38 DPC and love them. I used to use Titleist AP1 710 and they are very good too. Good luck!
  18. Went to a golf expo today (snow still on the ground) and bought an orange whip trainer. Explanation of how it works by the salesman, a couple golf professionals present telling me its virtues, and my own demonstration with it, sold me.
  19. Freddie Couples. Love the rhythm and flow. How different from me though. Jason Day and Adam Scott are two others.
  20. Little pretzel squares with peanut butter inside them. I often make bags for my friends.
  21. Going to a golf/show/expo. I really want to look at the spikeless shoes.
  22. Mizuno jpx ez 9.5 degree driver. Great sound and feel. Surprised me, as I was looking at others first.
  23. Welcome Matt. Its a great site.
  24. I'm Mike from CT. In the midst of a long cold winter this site has been a wealth of good knowledge and assistance. Look forward to making new friends. Thanks.
