  1. I'm currently playing a Srixon 18* hybrid. If I had to switch I would switch to the Adams Idea Pro Gold. I always play my Srixon so well I can't think of a reason to switch.
  2. I'm pumped, but the injury situation in the Pen's defense is getting me a little nervous. We'll have to score a hell of a lot of goals to make up for Gonchar being gone.
  3. I have a Yes! Tiffany putter for sale if you're interested. I have it posted in the marketplace.
  4. I play both the Srixon ZURs and the B330s. Both have low driver spin and great short game spin. I've found that both stand up very well to sharp grooves (TM zip). The Calloway Tour iX is also a fantastic ball with good spin but a bit more expensive than the other 2.
  5. What he went with shouldn't influence what you decide to get. Maybe he needs help getting the ball up. Get fit yourself and find out what gives you the desired trajectory. Check out the manufacturers websites and check out which of their shafts are "low launch".
  6. Shaft weight, flex, and kick point will influence ball height more than the degree of loft itself. Also, switching to a better quality ball might get rid of some of the ballooning. I play a 9.5* currently and don't have a high ball flight.
  7. Coincidences are great. I walked into the local Edwin Watts today and they had an 8.5* with a Prolaunch Red X stiff barely used for $150. Needless to say I now have a new driver. They even regripped it and shipped it home for me. $170 total.
  8. Too many to pick from. If you're talking eBay, you can get a set of very good 3-4 yr old irons for under $300. Ping, Calloway, Taylormade RAC, Srixon 506. It all depends if you're looking for a players' iron or something with more forgiveness.
  9. While at face value it may seem that the performance is the same there is a huge difference in quality and durability. If taken care of properly a name brand set of irons should last at least 5-7 years with consistent use. The name brand clubs are also much more likely to use quality shafts which can make a huge difference in shot consistency and swing feel. If it's all you can afford big box clubs are a good option but can't provide the feel and lifelong performance of a high quality club.
  10. When I got fit for my new driver in April it was between my SuperQ and the 600. I hit both pretty much the same with the X flex shafts, but couldn't justify the $100 price difference since the SQ had just come down in price. It is a great club though. Hope you enjoy it.
  11. Perhaps it is a habbit picked up only in little league, which I would guess 75% of men played in.
  12. Close. Flop shots are dangerous.
  13. The PGA superstore near Plano is fantastic. I bought a driver while I was down there in April. I hit probably 8 drivers on the simulator before I settled on the superquad. Does golfsmith credit that $20 back to you if you buy something there? As a response to the OP, if you are planning on using the launch monitor for new club specs I would recommend getting a fairly consistent and repeatable swing before investing a ton of money.
  14. Here's my experience: The best round of my life was shot barefoot. I wore a pair of slides and kicked them off to take full swings. I eventually had to stop playing barefoot because it started to really wear on my lower back. I couldn't play more than 4 holes without seriously paying for it the next 3 days. I have since gotten a pair of Adidas that are somewhere between a traditional and a sport style shoe. I can play pain free, but haven't gotten back to the same level game-wise. I think that playing barefoot caused me to slow everything down to keep from falling on my ass. If it didn't hurt so bad (plus get my feet filthy) I'd go back to it. I did get some funny looks when I'd step up to the tee box, kick off my sandals with my size 15 feet. Just watch out for goose crap.
  15. When someone skies a tee shot..."That's a deep drive to shallow left."
  16. If you're looking for maximum control go with the stiff. If you're more concerned with distance keep the regular. I play a ss of about 105-110 and use a X-stiff.
  17. Wow, I'm guessing that a lot of the anti-spitters haven't played other sports. I picked up my spitting habit while playing little league baseball 16 years ago. Now if I'm outside involved in any sort of athletic activity the spitting starts. I refrain from clearing my sinuses and hocking wads of moucus on the course, and I also try to keep from spitting on the green, but spitting is just a knee-jerk reaction. That said, spitting while others are teeing off or lining up putts would be a bit disrespectful.
  18. I got the PS3 version early Tuesday morning and have won a few tournaments and am halfway through the Furyk challenge. Unfortunately I'm at a friends and haven't gotten to see the game on my HD tv or played online yet. So far I like the challenge series more than last years. I haven't really been able to compare the graphics yet. I think the club tuner and constantly changing skillsets are great, and there are a lot of cool and wacky items available in the pro shop. Prices in the pro shop are much more expensive this year which makes you save up and keep your equipment a little longer. Overall I'd give it a 8.5 as of right now without being able to see it in HD or play online yet.
  19. I have mine pre-ordered for PS3. I won't be home next tuesday to pick it up though. The demo seemed pretty good, and I haven't gotten a golf game since I switched over from 360 around X-mas. If you other PS3 owners get it or have COD4 my gamer tag is DirtyPo37.
  20. Where do you tee the ball in your stance? How fast is your swing speed? What shaft flex are you using? What kind of shaft? All these factors will contribute to ball flight. I shaft with a high kickpoint will keep the ball lower, as will a stiffer shaft. Like the previous poster mentioned, get fitted for the driver as well as the shaft. They have high launch shafts available that might help you out.
  21. Forget foreign cars that cost $100k. Give me my '69 GTX w a Hemi and I'd be set for life. For a new car I'd take on of these And for practicality one of these
  22. Way...way too many to list but I'll give it a shot. In no particular order: Slower drivers Bad drivers Slow golf play My neighbors who constantly scream at their children Contemporary music (most of it) Spoiled douche-bag teens Reality TV People who call in insurance claims for damage that $20 over their deductible Women drivers Old drivers that take 45 minutes to make a right hand turn off a busy road Sentimental people Spin-off shows Dish-network not having my local channels in HD Soooooo many more. I'm a very angry and intolerant individual.
  23. Pay off all my debts. Build a modest but well equipped house on about 100 acres. Install my own driving range and 3 hole golf course, then travel to all the great courses around the world while living on the invested interest of what's left. My impulse purchase would be a 1969 Plymouth GTX convertible and a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8.
  24. I play a Srixon AD 18* 3h as a 5 wood replacement. I coudln't be happier with it. Pretty forgiving and give the workability that my handicap will allow me to use. I primarily use mine off the tee when I need 230-240 but can hit 200 yard knockdowns from the fairway and use it out of the rough on long shots.
  25. I have my 53* mizuno gap bent to *52 and that's my 100 yd club. I hit it very rarely and always seem to have 130 (pw) or 85-90 (sw) left on most par 4s.
