  1. Well just a lost ball because you can't find is broken alot on every course public and private. Its really played, well this is where i think it went out so i'll just drop here because its a pace of play thing. Imagine how mad you would be if you constantly have a guy driving back 150 to hit another shot. An OB ball is very simple to play correctly, just hit again, your already at the spot where you hit from its not that hard. I hate when people say i'll just drop from there. Funny with the ball moving when they address it. I know plenty of people that do that all the time. When you are out playing for fun I understand it. You want to have fun when your playing and fun is hitting a ball 200 out of the rough onto the green, its not topping a ball 20 yards back into the rough. People do really know the rules when they play and when it comes to any sort of competitive atmosphere they usually do play by them. In practice i do understand giving yourself a chance.
  2. lol. Google sent me here too. Anyways welcome.
  3. Personally fanofsaosin , i'm glad you showed that PGA pro up. This game isn't one swing fits all. Everyone should modify a swing that works for them. Some very successful Pro's have very odd swings and they play just fine. I have an odd swing in that i'm a righty and have a natural draw with all of my irons when most rightys have a fade. When I took the one and only lesson i've had (i'm planning on taking somethis summer) the pro immediately said oops we have to fix that fade. I turned and asked him why, it works fine and never gets me in trouble. He was just sort of stunned. I told him before the start of the lesson too, i'm here for Driving and Chipping.
  4. That is a long 6 Iron. I've had my new set of Taylor Made r7 tp irons for 1 weeks now and i've hit my 7 iron over 200 a couple times. People should care how well they hit their 7 iron instead of how far they hit it. I know I would take dropping 50 yards off every club and hitting the ball straight over hitting the ball really far and not being able to control it.
  5. Its a lot of luck not all luck. Better players have a better chance of getting them since their shots tend to be more accurate. Thats why Tiger has 18 i believe.
  6. Me Tiger Woods Bill Murray Mario Lemieux At Oakmont CC
  7. It has to be play it as it lies. A lot of golfers of 18 handicap fluff their balls and kick it out from under a tree or move it so they can have a clear shot to the green.
  8. I only live 10 min away from the course and i'm gonna be there everyday. I called off that week a long time ago.
  9. I just had my closest call yet on Tuesday. It was a 130 yard par 3. I hit an easy PW and it took one hop, hit the pin and fell about 1 foot away from the hole.
  10. I would try to stick with Components as said by iacas . I played a set of Confidence clubs for about 7-8 years which i just updated because they were way to short. There weren't bad clubs at all. Actual 2 years after i bought them, the company that was making them was bought up by Cleveland so they must have been doing something right.
  11. I'm like a previous poster where if the noise is constant the entire time i'm fine. Like if people are talking while i'm swinging, i need them to keep talking, but if they stop while in my back swing it really messes me up. Now bugs flying next to my head can get annoying but I usually do just fine. I totally mess up when a fly or a different bug lands on my ball while i'm swinging because it pulls my attention away and I make bad contact. And people on other holes usually don't bother me. Typically people need to be within 30 feet of me for it to bother me.
  12. I think basically everyone's goal is to get to a scratch golfer. I know mine is. I would also like the chance to play Pebble Beach, Pinehurst No. 2, Bethpage Black and Augusta. I have already played Firestone and Oakmont. Oakmont really tore me a new on but I was also a ~30 handicap at the time. Oh also I would like to have at least 1 hole in 1 before i die. I'm only 21 so i have a lot of golfing left in my life and plenty of chances left for one.
  13. I will blow up on 3 or 4 holes a round and wind up double bogey or worse. That handicap is also all my last years numbers without my driver. I've played 3 times year and I would say i'm probably shooting 10 over or so now.
  14. Driver: ~275 I can hit it over 300 but I just started to use a driver again after 2 years of not using any woods. 3W & 5W: I haven't hit them in so long that i have no clue. 3 Iron: 250 4 Iron: 235 5 Iron: 220 6 Iron: 200 7 Iron: 185 8 Iron: 170 9 Iron: 160 PW: 150 SW: 120 LW: 100 (I usually never hit a full swing though) Before you call BS let me say that I have a pretty flat swing and a low trajectory because of this and all my clubs go a lot further.
  15. I try to play as strict as I can to the rules. It makes me feel better know that I can play strict to the rules and still do well. I will make a putt again after I've holed out to see if I can reread the line properly.
  16. The worst course i've played on and continue you play on is Rose Ridge Golf Course in Allison Park, PA. Early in the season this is a pretty good course. The fairways are still green and the greens aren't like concrete. Come June and July the fairways turn brown and the Greens and Tee Boxes are like concrete. I joke that i need a hammer to get my tee into the ground but its not really a joke. This course is very challenging but it needs taken care of. They dont really water the course.
  17. I used to have a really bad temper about bad shots but now i'm pretty calm. Before I used to say a couple explatives and slam my club into the ground. All i do now is walk up to the ball after a bad shot, take a deep breath and swing. 95% of the time i hit a perfect shot. You just need to relax after a bad shot. As someone else said quoting Happy Gilmore, go to your "Happy Place." Golf i've noticed is a game best played with a clear head.
  18. I've never had an Ace but i've had a Double Eagle so i think that qualifies. Murrysville Golf Club #6 413 par 5 5 iron from about 190 out This hole is set up funny. At about 200 out there is a large gully that has a stream running through it and a small landing area. To clear the gully you need about a 280 shot on the fly. Almost everyone lays up. I tried to lay up and hit the ball a little far and rolled down into the gully. So I have a blind shot at the green. The foursome all hit their shots and were waiting for me to hit. I hit a clean shot right where i think the green is. Everyone gets up there and find there balls but me. Everyone hits and is on the green and i'm still looking. I tell them to go ahead and put i'm going to keep looking. My Dad who was in the group when to pull the pin and saw my ball in the hole. Everyone went totally crazy because this was my first year playing.
  19. They are great cigars.
  20. I am one of the taller guys on here at 6'4" pretty close to 6'5". I do only weigh 170 but that isn't by choice. I can't put on weight at all. 6 months of weight lifting only put on 5 lbs. But i've been playing for about 7-8 years now. I prefer to walk. Your just much more with nature and its much more enjoyable. Plus its nice to be able to take your entire bag anywhere on the course with you. I tend to ride carts often though because all my friends do and i do it just so i can keep up with them. I've been shooting in the high 90's but i think one of the problems is the clubs were way to small. I just ordered a new set that were fitted for me.
  21. I basically will smoke what ever catches my eye. I really like the Fuente Opus X but my smoke shop rarely gets them in. Other than that I usually smoke Roxor, Oliva and Cohiba.
  22. I always play the ball a little further back in my stance to get it up quicker. Works wonders for me.
