  1. Thanks for the opinions....could you please post cities where these coures are....everyone might not know the location. I can't wait to get down there and play some!
  2. I've never heard about this.....do you have sources on this? So he's JD jr. now???? NAH!!!
  3. RichF, I'm not sure on all the specs and analysis.....and I'm somewhat biased (see my signature). I'll just say I'm EXTREMELY pleased with my TM Burner driver, 3W, and 3 Hybrid. I guess its all about confidence, feel and results. It sounds like you've answered your own question that the Burner is right for you, over the Nike. Good luck!
  4. Does this post have to continue? Its a rule....a rule is a rule is a rule.... Cheating, or "bending" the rules is not a new concept in golf. , I've been known to "improve" my lie. Guys in my league agree to moderate lie improvements......we don't play in tournaments, except our weekly Sunday wager! So, abide by the (ESC) rule or not......doesn't really matter. And about Plus Handicaps.......think of your bragging rights at "the Club!" P.S. This post is not intended to offend!!! But written in jest with a little sarcasm!
  5. 392 yd par 4 Drive left, somewhat behind and under tree/branches. Punch 3 hybrid onto the green (@ 150 yds), 2 putt. I love using that Burner 3 hybrid for punch shots.
  6. Mine is an autograph story, too.... I was getting some autographs at the (then) FedEX St. Jude Classic in Memphis and I think I got Paul Stankowski, Ernie Els and Tommy Armour III. I asked for a couple of autographed balls from each.....Ernie was super nice....and Tommy III was a di*k. I gave my buddie one of Ernie's autographed balls and I kept one. Still have it. Maybe I should go home and find it and rub it for luck. I could use some of the Big Easy's magic!! :)
  7. Two Bucks, Love your avitar, by the way! Good round. IMHO, total chips and putts can kill me...not on every hole, but on a few. Perhaps, on your doubles? I am trying to improve my lag putting (to eliminate 3 putts) and improving the "Bump and Run" so I can one putt more often. Do you count your chips?? I just started doing that, and its an area that I need improvement on. I shot an 87 yesterday (good for me) with one bird, 5 pars, 7 bogeys, 3 dubs, and a QUAD!!! On the bright side, I eliminated the triples! Good luck!
  8. I don't think people have forgotten about Duval....you're right...there IS something about him...he comes across snobbish....although, I'm not sure if he is or not. No-nonsense to a fault maybe? Definitely talented, when he's on. I mean, I remember back when Stricker was good the first time....and others like Paul Stankowski...he seemed to have potential. But, Duval was "up there." And he fell HARD. Would like to see him come back and contend. I like him cause he Fly Fishes!!!
  9. Freddie Couples....silky smooth. Of the young guns, I like Adam Scott and Charles Howell III. Those guys are LIMBER!! Waiting for them to win some majors!
  10. http://www.golfdigest.com/rankings/2...ankings_gd2007 I always get Kenny G and Michael Bolton confused??? I can't believe Justin Timberlake is a 6 cap! But on the Brittney Spears theme......I wonder if K-Fed is a good golfer?
  11. You must not be in the house much, if you're a SCRATCH golfer!!!!
  12. Yeah, the twirl is AWESOME!!! I've been dying to learn how to do that! But I'm still learning how to shape the ball the other way (draw)!!
  13. I agree with J Bone here....if its only 100 yards, use it as practice for "real time" approach shots. But, on a par 18 70-72 par course, I always tee it up....even if slightly. I usually pick up an old broken, half tee on the tee box and use that.
  14. I'd worry more about the prom date than the cheating golfer!!! Just kidding! Good luck with both and keep practicing!!
  15. First of all, Relax!!! And congratulations on your Handicap!!!! That's an achievement. Now, some other advice from an "old" duffer.... 1. Don't let this punk get to you. 2. Follow earlier advice, let it fuel you to practice and get better. 3. Keep playing an honest game and maintain your composure (that means relax). 4. Don't let this kid get to you. 5. You should go to the coaches, calmly, and ask them why you're not playing and what you need to do to start playing. Remember, be calm and don't pout or whine. If you have specific goals, and meet them, then that puts the coaches in a situation where they need to play you, or have a good reason why not. Finally, this kid's mouth and cheating will catch up to him....its called Karma, and it means you get what you deserve....so, play hard and fair and you'll be fine! Hang in there!
  16. Here, Here! Raise your glasses!!! WOW!!! That's an amazing feat of dedication, hard work, skill AND mental toughness!!
  17. Wow....Scratch! Congrats!!! That's like being a Rock Star....it will never happen for me! I don't play in those tournaments...obviously not in that league or belong to a club. I would say just enjoy your accomplishment, and not sweat the rest.... Erik, do you have an estimate of the percentage of golfers (tracking handicaps) that are scratch golfers??? Its got to be less than 2%! Anyway, congrats! I'm trying to officially become a "bogey" golfer....and I'm almost there!
  18. What are the odds he says something to the staff about it (how he was right)??? Have fun and make the best of it! Good thing your wife was cool about it!!!
  19. They weren't 501s! A little baggier than that....but I agree...don't like it.
  20. Our group matches up teams, kind of randomly, but trying to group "fairly"...and we usually play best ball...whoever scores best for the team and keep team score. We throw in $5 a man. When we have odd numbers we'll play skins and pay out for 1st and 2nd. Given that I'm a higher handicapper than the rest of the group....it helps me when we play teams.
  21. His punishment....he's banned from The Sand Trap and playing or practicing golf for a month!! Just Kidding!!! Yes, we'd like to know how everyone reacted! P.S. My bride doesn't know about The Sand Trap...but she is tired of watching golf and the Golf Channel!!
  22. I wouldn't ask him "What were you thinking?"....even though I'm sure that's what YOU are thinking! I agree, no jeans....particularly on the recently "converted" from private course. I have worn jeans maybe twice in the winter, although I don't condone it....it was a very, very public/municpal course. I would just drop it with Father-in-Law. Let it go. You probably should have at least offered to leave (not play) when he got the boot.....and hopefully he would've said for you to go on. You probably are in the proverbial dog house with the wife. Flowers are good. Your father-in-law shouldn't hold a grudge like a woman might. Note-to-self....may want to check with Pops to see what he's planning on wearing next time!! :)
  23. Where was that? Did you talk to him (like why was he at that course)? COOL!!!
  24. Still waiting on my eagle... :( I'm not that long of a hitter...so I may need to play from the gold tees! :) I did "assist" in an eagle (ace) once....it was in Destin, FL and a buddy of mine was saying that he hit his 8-iron 150 yds....which was the distance of this Par 3 that we were on. He grabbed his 7-iron and I said, hey don't you hit your 8-iron 150?? He grabbed it and the after a one hop bounce, the rest was history!
  25. I use Yahoo....search for Golf. I tried to find a link...but it has all of my info on it. Search on Yahoo for Golf Handicap. Hope this helps.
