Are they still considered legendary? Anybody play them?

Go see an orthopedist. It's better to address a issue now than something much worse later.

Are you "ball loyal" during a round?
pueblo replied to rjwiggall's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Brand loyal? Me? No. I play Titleist mostly but like Srixon, Bridgestone, Wilson and Fuzz! I change balls during a round because it just CAN"T be me than makes the ball go weird places! -
I begin my round with three balls. Two reasons, I walk and am concerned with weight and two, I always find a dozen or so. I have about 40 dozen mint balls in my office closet and about 20 dozen less than mint in the garage. I give away the less than mints to high school golf teams from some of the poorer schools.

Rather than compare the Golf Academy with the Professional Golfers College aask , go visit some local club pros. Get THEIR opinion and advice. New Mexico State University has a golf degree program http://business.nmsu.edu/academics/pgagm/degree-requirements/

Wow, what a great question and hard to estimate but here goes...I began playing in 1961. Like others I've had periods of high activity and many with little or no play. So 1961 to 2011 is 50 years...say 25 with no activity. I was the club leader in rounds for two years running in 2005-2006 with something like 580 total...and something like 1x a week for the other years so maybe approaching 2000...that sounds about right. Wouldn't it be interesting to have my clubs from way back and play with them now!

I've lived in different areas some humid and others dry. I discontinued gloves as a financial move about 10 years ago. I rarely practice (not bragging) because I don't have the temperment. I like to hit wedges and putt but my back can't handle the continued bending. My scoring improved because my mental outlook changed.

Putting used to be the strength of my game. Recently I noticed that I tend to miss most of my putts on the left side. So I got an oversize grip and it seems to prevent my hands rolling over at the point of contact. Also a center-shafted putter works better for me. I also need a new prescription for my glasses!

Typically a 48, 56 and 60. Then in late Spring when the grass grows out a little I'll replace the 60 with a 64.

I use a cart and weight is important so I removed the strap and legs from my bag but then I've got a least that much weight hanging off my bag!

Enjoyed your comments Sean. I don't smoke anymore but I miss cigars as much as you guys who smoke enjoy yours. And please, if we ever play together, light one up. At least now I can enjoy the aroma of a good cigar.

Two clubs, wow! I'd take a SW + putter. Please let us know what you chose and how you did. Sounds like fun!

In the summer they live in the house. In the winter, the garage or trunk. No one would steal my car...or my clubs either!

Once I shot 63-48. It was comical!

Congratulations! A great morale and confidence boost. Let us of more!

I answered "Depends". I've had an early model GPS for several years now. So the yardage is approximate. On my regular course I don't need it but feel it gives me an edge. On a course I'm not familar with I would need it. I'm a "feel" player with respect to grip, stance, swingplane etc however.

There's such an emphasis on speed in our society. Perhaps when I was younger that was my mindset but now I play to enjoy my friends and Mother Nature. I do NOT play on the weekends because it's so very crowded. If you're limited to playing only on the weekends time is critical with family, errands, children's activities, meetings etc to attend to. I shoot in the 80s but I enjoy the time whether my score is 84 or 99. Attitude is very important when times don't go our way. I used to have road rage on the golf course now I'm glad just to be on a course.

Got mine at Lowes for $1.97

Consider: Each hole is a new beginning. Sometimes a perfect beginning ends up in trouble. Sometimes a horrible beginning turns out really well. Misfortune isn't always our fault but sometimes it is. Miracles do happen. Sometimes it rains on our parade. Bad things can happen to good people. At some moment we'll need a mulligan.

Do you experience similarities between golf and the twists and turns of life?

Ocassionally I marshall at a muny course. I try to complement golfers on shots, kid around with them, help them find balls, pick up trash etc. Weekend golfers (as opposed to weekday golfers) are a unique group. They complain about slow play, many times rightfully so as more and more folks are taking up our wonderful sport. The newcomers sometimes don't understand golf etiquette. Someone took the time to teach me so as a marshall I try to "do unto them". My point is that all of us should honor our game by helping others.

Thanks for asking Sean. I'd be satisfied with a set of Wilson Staff FG-62s as long as I could learn to hit them!

Which brand of irons would you play and why?

One of my golf buddies kept his clubs in the trunk of his car. So one day we've just arrived at the course, he opens his bag and pulls out a dark object that looked like a Tootsie Roll. It was a banana...a real OLD banana. Another time he left some hard-boiled eggs in his bag...in the trunk...in the middle of the summer. He'd forgotten about the eggs when he noticed the car smelled funny. He took it to the car cleaner folks and spent a gob of money trying to rid the car of the odor. Then the car smelled great...for a day. The sick odor reappeared. He decides to check the trunk. The "blow" from the fumes nearly knocked him over. He had to buy a new bag. There's nothing as funny as true golf stories. Do you have one...or two to share?
