  2. I ordered a used set of Ben Hogan APEX plus irons (3 - EW) last week. I've read a lot of positive reviews of these clubs and I have wanted to move on from my game improvement irons I'm currently using (CG golds). I received them today and they look like they are are in pretty solid condition, shafts look good, scratch marks and general wear on the club head but overall pretty great. The 7 and 8 iron are in the worst condition but I think that's likely expected. Each has a smallish nick in the sole like a stone was hit or something. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the condition for what I spent ($130 CAD, shipped). I'm about a 17 handicap, haven't really been tracking all that much in the last year. I guess my biggest concern is that I will be hacking these things around the course. Anyone have any experience playing these clubs at around my level? On a side note, does anyone have any experience with polishing up old clubs i.e. re-painting the lettering, maybe smoothing and polishing some of the nicks and scratches. I love the look of the clubs and I'd like to get them as good as possible and I plan for these to be my long term irons.

  3. Hey, 2 time ACL reconstruction on my load bearing leg. My surgeon recommended the same no golf for about a 6 - 7 months post surgery. It takes that long for the graft to fully vascularize and for you to redevelop the muscles surrounding the knee. For myself there was significant atrophy in the quad and surrounding muscles post surgery. It took 6 months + of rehab to get the muscle back. To this day there is still a small but visible difference in the definition and tone of my quad muscles. Hope this helps.
  4. That works. Do you have a time line for when it will be available for order directly from you guys?
  5. This book looks fantastic! What are the chances this will be available on amazon as a ebook or regular paper back, since I missed the indiegogo campaign?
  6. Yeah I signed up last week as well. Just after the first lesson I can feel a difference in my ball contact and have noticed a difference in my distance. Obviously it's going to take time for this to be my normal but the difference between me looking at my swing and someone who knows what they are doing looking at my swing is huge. I'm excited to get my next video up and see if I've made any improvement.
  7. The weather in Winnipeg this morning was -20 C with a north wind making it feel like -35 C. There will be no golf for me until late April with the amount of snow on the ground. We at least have lots of simulators up here but it's not the same.
  8. Be grateful you can golf at all in March. I woke up to -20 C with a north wind making it feel like -35 C. I won't be golfing until late April at the earliest with the amount of snow on the ground :( I will be hitting some balls at the simulator tomorrow but it's really not the same.
  9. I have a pair of these Kikkor shoes . I love the casual look, they are the most comfortable golf shoes I have owned, the price is excellent. They don't have removable spikes but after two seasons and only walking I haven't noticed any significant wear. I would definitely recommend Kikkor.
  10. I have been testing out the Srixon Qstars and the Bridgestone e6 both feel great off the putter and both have been handling fairly well around the green. I haven't yet had a chance to play a full round with either yet, just some practice sessions.
  11. Rory McILroy - 275 Tiger Woods - 276 Hunter Mahan - 280
  12. Hehe this made me laugh out loud.
  13. Excellent, thanks for the information.
  14. This past January I had acl reconstructive surgery on my knee, my physiotherapist has said I can play golf but that I should probably wear my knee brace. The knee brace is this one, my question is, is it this against the rules to play with it on? Does it fall under the equipment rules? I was hoping to be able to play with it on and still record my rounds for handicap calculations, any information would be much appreciated. Thanks
  15. If I may ask, how is full relief defined? How would I know where full relief is located from a place I want to take relief from? Thanks
  16. Yeah winter up here in Canada has been exceptional, if the weather holds I think the courses may be open by early April which is unheard of up here. The worst part for me...I can't play until July no thanks to recovering from ACL reconstruction and the doc telling me I can't make a swing until at least the 6 month mark. It's torture because all I can think about is golf. I guess I will be spending May and June on the putting green.
  17. Pretty sure that is a Quebec thing, never heard anyone complaining about it in Manitoba.
  18. Are the Casio slow motion cameras discontinued? I am having a hell of a time finding any for sale anywhere in Canada
  19. Quick (potentially stupid) question. I am planning on signing up for evolr probably around June (just had ACL reconstruction so I can't golf for 6 months). Will the introduction of the 5 simple keys affect what you guys are doing on evolr or will it simply be a continuation of your instruction methods? EDIT: To clarify would I be better off waiting until The 5 simple keys was established and then sign up or just go ahead and get set up on Evolr as soon as I can?
  20. Been a while since I have posted, I have gotten a few rounds in this year and I am definitely noticing some positive changes. My irons are solid and I am creating proper divots, my putting is on averaging 2 putts per hole but my game is still a long way from where I would like it to be. My long clubs (5w, 3w and driver) are the single biggest reason for my poor scores this year. I have a consistent slice, I am losing major strokes because I can't keep the ball in play off the tee. My ball always starts straight so I know my club face is OK. The videos I posted above are showing that I take the club back on the inside, and I have a horrible swirl at the top of my back swing. I know this is the reason for my out to in swing path but no matter what I have tried my ball always fades or slices. I will try and get some newer videos as the ones above are a month old and I feel like my swing has evolved since then. If you can suggest any swing thoughts or drills that I can use to get me thinking about the proper motions that would be great. Thanks.
  21. I agree with above, amazon is the best place to look. I got this one and it works like a charm.
  22. Yeah I think you guys have convinced me to try out this v2 ball. The balls I play at the moment are various used balls it's never the same ball. I might borrow some of my brother in laws old TP blacks (he switched to the penta) and try them around the green. All in all, some good things to think about. Thanks for the tips.
  23. I am at a point in my golf game where I feel like I need to decide on a ball that I am going to consistently play. However, I do not know how to pick a ball or what I should be looking for in a ball. I am not very long off the tee, though that is improving as I start to realize the flaws in my swing and actively work to avoid them. I would say a good tee shot travels about 260-270. The strongest part of my game is definitely in and around the green. Swing thoughts evaporate when I get close to green and I just play, it is definitely where I have the most fun. With all that being said I still lose on average 2-3 balls a round so (mostly due to tee shots, when I get to quick and armsy I have the worst banana ball) I don't want to be spending a lot of money on a ball that I will eventually lose. With this in mind does anyone have a recommendation for a golf ball. I was thinking NXT tour, or even the Taylormade Black? Thanks for your input.
  24. Yeah with V1 you have to buy the premium version to get the side by side comparison, which is one of my reasons for wanting to use something else. It seems like it has a lot of useful features, I really like that picture within a picture. Cool find.
  25. I have been looking for a free video analysis tool, I will have to give this try when I get home. Getting kind of tired of V1 home it is pretty poor. Thanks for posting the find
