  1. I never understood how this worked. My local muni is empty, no one is there, its closed, pro shop, restaurant, offices, etc are all closed and empty. Are you allowed to just go any play golf? Or is it that you just do it and if they catch you you're in trouble?
  2. BST = Buy, Sell, Trade recoupe = recuperate
  3. doesn't SC custom make tiger's putter himself? I don't think its any ordinary newport
  4. I like SC headcovers but I agree they do scream 'steal me'
  5. okay i'll check it out. I'm just not sure if there is any software involved.
  6. i'm not liking the look. But then again, I never liked the 'sporty' kind of golf shoe.
  7. is it possible to use this without a subscription/annual $35 fee?
  8. I was given this as a birthday gift, doesn't work on my mac so I have to wait awhile until I have access to a windows machine. Anybody have one? How do you like it? EDIT: Also if you have it, do you know if its legality status as far as tournament play, etc. It doesn't measure slope(at least I haven't figured out how to do that if it does.)
  9. well, to be fair, they all do this. Jim Furyk went on and on about his srixon ball in a golf magazine issue a while back. prob half a dozen other examples i'm to lazy to think of right now too.
  10. ^ +1. I read your article 'almost everything I know about putting' and I whole-heartedly agree - imagining a 3 food wide hole and putting it to that is stupid. I go for it every time. Sure, maybe I blow a few long distance putts a bit past the hole sometimes, but for every time that happens I hole one out.
  11. its all coming back hah.. Actually, I'm remembering that now - I haven't posted on these forums in a while after becoming a golf recluse during the off season(I hate what living in the northeast does to my golf game). Actually it's probably for the better because I've forgotten all the silly swing thoughts that served only to make me nervous and forget key fundamentals. but back on topic, I just dug out that issue from my bookcase, and there are a couple other zany ideas that man has got. Looking like they caught him mid-sneeze in all the pictures doesn't add any extra credibility to his ideas either . (EDIT: upon review of the original post it looks like you've already addressed this, too. )
  12. anyone remember Golf Magazine having an article a while back with a guy with red hair(ex pro golfer, name doesn't come to mind) advocating 'hitting down' on your driver, and bottoming out 4 inches past impact?
  13. nantucket reds, of course
  14. I now prefer playing without one, but when I did I liked those Footjoy Sci-Flex. I think thats the one with the big spandex 'FootJoy' across the knuckles.
  15. uh plaid pants aren't for old men with 'ZERO' fashion sense. First off style is subjective, and nobody made you the authority on what is 'rediculous'(sic) or what is not. Second off if you were really 'new school' you would now that plaid pants are in fashion right now and you can find them on the racks of high end department stores country wide. And even if they weren't in fashion right now, they are timeless and classic. You just have a distorted view of what they are because you are only exposed to them when poulter or the like vies for attention with a particularly loud pair. Plaid pants are a vintage mainstay of golf wear, and a lot better looking to my eye then synthetic color-blocked polos and baseball caps that are the norm in golf attire today.
  16. not a fan of strange looking mallets. Always comes of as gimmicky to me. That applies to this imho.
  17. this season club monaco has filled like half thier store with wool plaid pants. Simple windopanes and checks mostly. JCrew has glen plaid grey chinos. Band of Outsiders always has them, as does Polo Ralph Lauren, Original Penguin, Hickey, Rag & Bone, J PRess, etc. Now is prob the best time to buy because it's not only trad/preppy clothes churning them out, americana is in fashion so fashion brands will be carrying them all over. Ridiculous as it might sound, an old man would prob be just as 'right-at-home' at the Barney's COOP level as would its target demo, young men.
  18. haha hoping to get one of these if I make my high school's varsity team this year (here's to breaking 40 at the tryouts )
  19. I stopped reading after I saw that. Why should I believe anything else in the study if they think prov1's spin less than the v1x's?
  20. I wouldn't trust anything coming from one of those movies. Even if he does have an arguable, grounded-in-fact point(not here, imho), he warps the facts, misrepresents the truth, and re-writes history to get his point across. My own opinion is one that has been voiced many times in this thread - if you make guns illegal, then only criminals will have them. It might reduce the number of guns, but not make them any less dangerous. Look at the 'war on drugs' - you can be thrown in jail for even the smallest amount of illegal substance yet drugs are widely available pretty much everywhere. A federal ban on handguns would have the same effect.
  21. lets all stop talking about nike and miura and tigers blades now use the search button please k thanks bye.
  22. stock up on golf balls, etc. I wouldn't be buying clubs at a big box type golf store
  23. did you try the fastback
  24. the freer the market, the freer the people. We are already a halfways socialist country. Progressive income tax, social security, wall street bailout, etc etc. The reason capitalism isn't working in this country is because we don't have true capitalism. While capitalism isn't perfect, I believe true capitalism is the least flawed political system. And what we have now is not true capitalism. Mccain wants to keep this one foot in each camps system, and Obama wants to go all in socialism. Both have it wrong. Unfortunately for us, these are our only choices.
