> Their short games and putting aren't very good either. OK you know this can't go on without facts :-) Are the ladies that much worse? Data????

Today I had 5-6 putts hit the hole and lip out. Then there were the three or four 2-3 footers that I missed. I couldn't buy a par on the back nine. Every time I screwed up, I managed to hit a iron to 5-6 feet only to miss. Played a course that I haven't played in a while and still managed to screw up most of the same holes. It was one of the most frustrating rounds of 90 I have had. In the end it's all good. Nice day, lost only one ball but found 3 more. Oh well....

> Spieth isn't arrogant. Not one bit of what he said was cocky. Yes. I heard the interview after the win. No way is he cocky. In fact, he was still in shock over how he won. The only thing I hear Jordan keep saying is that he's not in the same league yet as Rory and that he hopes at some point he will be and will be #1. Is he confident? I would assume so. Is he arrogant, no. I don't think so. As much as I love Rory, I think Jordan is great for the game of golf and one heck of a great player and comes across as a nice guy.

Wow congratulations! Glad it helped!!!!!! That is an awesome score! More to come I am sure!

Thanks guys!!!!!

You need to get something like the SwingByte or 3bays. It attaches to the club and will measure swing speed reasonably well among other things. The iPhone is awesome and so is the development environment. I was just going to say that someone could clip the phone to your glove and here it is: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/golf-swing-speed/id545869923?mt=8

I forgot to mention another really good book. It's the How to break 100,90,80,70 series by Andy Chao. It really has a lot of overlap with LSW. I'm still learning from the book - I've bought every single one. The only thing is that there's a ton of overlap within the series and sometimes outright mistakes (copy and paste from another etc...). But it's full of great information! I love it. Will read it before going out today.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I've tried it both ways and some days you are just off. One time I went to the range and couldn't hit anything. I mean, every single ball was topped or shanked. Even some pros felt bad and tried to help me. It was one of the worst days of playing I have had. So going to the range may make things worst because all it does is make you feel defeated before you hit the tee. I always do the same thing now - check tempo, sweep the ground. Try and hit as controlled as I can with balance. It works for me.

WOW, thanks guys. Yeah, I'm not expecting much from him with regards to score - but OK, will give it a good shot. Thanks for the tips. mdaugherty24, thanks!!!! Dave, I will have them ask for #8 for the practice round. I wasn't aware the greens were that fast. Incredible. I don't think we have anything that fast in Hawaii under normal conditions.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but my son is going to play Pinehurst 5,8 and 2. Of the three, he can only play either 5 to 8 during a practice round. For the people that have played there - if you could choose between 5 or 8, which one would you choose? I guess another way to say this, is which course 5 to 8 would best prepare you for the other two? Thanks for any advice.

I went to the range, but it was pretty difficult to map everything out accurately. The trackman can save a lot of time, but I'm not sure how accurate the trackman is for carry distance etc... either. I would think if you could go out on the range and laser back to the bag that would be best, but what about shot dispersion? Pretty difficult in any case.

I posted this before, but this is an excellent book with common sense. http://www.amazon.com/Short-Hitting-Golfers-Break-Time/dp/1453698922

Bogey Golfers Only (Index 16-22) / Breaking 90 Topic

I posted this in the 100 and over thread, but this really applies to people like me that do not practice much. Try it, it really works. And yes, it took me a while to realize that sometimes I need to keep my driver in the bag for the entire round depending on the course. >Make practice swings and do not swing any faster than you can balance. I mean really pay attention to how fast you can swing in complete balance. Do this while sweeping the ground with your club. When it's time to hit, do not swing any faster. It will feel slower but you will probably make better contact and you will have more time to square the club face. Good luck! -
Try this the next time. Make practice swings and do not swing any faster than you can balance. I mean really pay attention to how fast you can swing in complete balance. Do this while sweeping the ground with your club. When it's time to hit, do not swing any faster. Bogey Golfers Only (Index 16-22) / Breaking 90 Topic

Over here. No changes. It seems like no matter what I do, it's always around 44-46 for any given 9 holes. Putting is still bad with rarely any 1 putts. Just missed a 3 footer - dead straight but hit it too hard and it popped out. Golflogix is getting tired of my playing and has seemed to permanently fixed my handicap at 17.5. -
Question here. When you go out and play - let's say right off the bat you are hitting right. So your first tee shot goes right. Then your next iron/hybrid goes right. At what point do you just compensate or do most of you try to fix the problem on the next hole? Do any of you simply ignore the problem and just refocus on every shot (aim your normal way) and accept the outcome of each shot? I've been noticing that I've been compensating for whatever way I might be playing in a given day. Lately it's been overcompensating and leading to a few bad holes. Just wondering what the mind set is around here regarding this.

Yes, he's much older now! Must be it.

> Dave Eichelberger burying a wedge up to the grip Wow! If it's the same person, I got to play a pro am with Dave. He was really, really nice and complimenting us and talking about all the different places he has played. I guess when you are competing, the worse can come up!

> Many people believe that Rory Sabattini is the biggest jerk on tour, due to his behaviour inside and outside of the ropes. He came to Hawaii. I brought my kids. He was constantly complaining about every bad shot he made. About the bunkers, about the lies. Then he swore and threw his ball into the bush. My daughter was young and she was shocked. Me? I thought it was interesting...

Sorry to hear that Lihu! There's nothing like hitting to a par 3 and get it close (4 or 5 feet) from 175 yards. Then walk up, take your time and miss the putt!!!!! I've even missed putts where they are begging me to pick up. I always insist on trying the putt, only to miss. The good news is that I par a lot of par 3s. The only thing that is changed now, is that I don't get upset when I miss it. Just move on. Because I made a par, I can afford a double along the way!!!! hahahaha
-
No, it's weird. I can somewhat reliably 2 putt from most distances (so I make bogey or par). My swing path or club/head is no good. So when I pick out a line, I hit the putt and it usually misses in some manner. I wish it was consistent. When I do have birdie chances (on a par 3 or par 5), I usually miss them. I also have a bad habit of pitching to about 4 or 5 feet which I then miss...
-
Oh and LSW = GIR. That is.... unless you cannot putt like me! :-) Good Luck guys!
-
Forgot to say. Besides LSW, check out "How short hitting bad golfers break 90 all the time". It's a great read and it works.

Gipper, I know you are probably getting way too much info, but here's my 2 cents and check my handicap so take it FWIW. Buy a cheap practice mat. If you can afford it, get a weighted club - the type that has the grip already set to put your hands in the correct grip. Now swing every day and make as good a swing as you can - always taking the time to sweep the mat. Do not use a ball. Just work on a smooth swing and to always sweep the mat. The keys are to swing smoothly and to always sweep the mat. Try this every day at home and then go out and play. When you swing on the course, remember to swing smoothly and to "sweep the mat". Tell me what happens.

Quick question. The book describes putting yardage markings on your clubs for easy reference. Is this ok to use in tournaments?
