  1. I've been on testosterone replacement therapy for three weeks but I'm now looking for a different treatment. My energy is great and the AndroGel is working but I'm experiencing a side effect that I was really hoping wouldn't happen. I have left ankle swelling that I didn't have before starting treatment, so I likely have blood clots in my left leg. I'll have to find a natural remedy. The chances of this side effect happening with AndroGel treatment are less than 0.1% so I guess I'm just the one in a thousand that develop that issue. If only my golf game was that special! I just felt like crap before I started treatment and hope that I can find something that works for me. Any other suggestions in addition to those above will be appreciated. Wish me luck in getting rid of the occlusion.
  2. One of the first marshals quoted said "We didn't say nothing to him and he didn't say nothing to us." The Florida school system is so very proud of this guy.
  3. It's a game for life. It beats working. No matter how well or how badly I play there's always one shot that will bring me back again. Getting away from the problems that life brings and forgetting about them for a while. A couple of hours at the range and I think that I can solve all of the world's problems except those in my golf swing. Thinking about golf when I'm not golfing. Being outdoors, regardless of the weather. There's nothing like the sound of a perfectly struck ball or the ball dropping into the cup. Peace and quiet. Time with friends and the ability to make new ones in the game.
  4. I had the Secret Grip put on one of my driver shafts (Grafalloy Epic, 68g Regular) that had fallen out of favor with me and went to the range yesterday. I was already warmed up having hit 40 or so balls before trying the driver. I hit a couple of low hooks first but after getting used to the feel I hit a few that rivaled and in a couple of cases exceeded the height and carry distance on my favorite shaft, the UST ProForce V2HL. I have a propensity for hitting everything low but was able to generate a nice high ball flight when I put an easy swing on my driver with the new grip. All in all the change in weight and position of the weight in the grip has potential but I'm going to give it a few more visits to the range before being sure that it makes the difference that I think that it might.
  5. Welcome from Sugar Land, Mike.
  6. Entered. Thanks for the opportunity.
  7. I have a pretty dependable driver but suspect long and mid-iron ball-striking. That makes driving and putting the most valuable parts of my game.
  8. He's indefensible.
  9. I hit my hybrids as I hit my irons since they are an iron-replacment club. I get better ball flight, distance, and consistency with my hybrids if I take a divot with them just as with my irons.
  10. At Golf Galaxy I used the website coupon and had a Boccieri Golf heavy "Secret Grip" put onto a driver shaft that has fallen out of favor with me. It's a $17 grip and free installation at GG or Dick's with the coupon from www.boccierigolf.com. The rules say that it has to go on a driver or a 7 iron. I only had time to hit it a couple of times but it felt really good. If you have a spare driver of shaft that you want to try something else with the Secret Grip is probably worth the try. I'll try to post more when I have time on Tuesday to spend some time with it at the range.
  11. If I have to name just one it would be Dr. Strangelove.
  12. Wind is one thing but the other is the fact that you're hitting range balls. I go to the range a couple of times a week but can't count on every range ball to perform the same since they aren't all the same type. I wouldn't put a lot of stock into your distance variation unless there's just one type and age of ball at your range.
  13. I've changed my thoughts on this. Those who are deluded enough to think that their God actually worries about how a golfer is doing can say what they want to whomever they want but don't expect me to think that your God gives a hoot about you winning a golf tournament. What makes me think that such shout outs are disingenuous is that God never comes up if the same player loses, say if Derek Ernst had lost in the playoff. I still don't have to agree with your beliefs and can choose to like you, not like you, or just not give a crap, just as I wouldn't try to convince anyone else about anything as personal as my own beliefs. To each his own, until you try to force something on me against my wishes. For something as simple as mentioning your God after a win? Go for it.
  14. My level, when last tested, was 114 ng/dl. Insurance does a good job for me with a $10 co-pay and their is people also have a coupon on www.androgel.com so that no one pays more than that. I'm on injectable Humira for my arthritis and their Co-Pay program limits my financial responsibility for it to $5/month. I think that it's great when Big Pharma steps up to help out those of us who need their products.
  15. Northern Illinois University. Go Huskies! Emory University
  16. I had an extended period of time recently during which I put on some weight and had a definite lack of energy. I also had some sleep disturbances and a general bad attitude about things that I normally wouldn't let bother me. I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but in Houston there are tons of radio and TV commercials for low testosterone diagnosis and treatment, so I went to my doctor and got the appropriate blood tests. I found that my testosterone level was REALLY low. I've been on treatment for a couple of weeks now and I have to tell you, the fatigue that I felt for the last couple of years while doing the simplest things like hitting a bucket of 110 balls is just GONE. I'm hitting the ball a bit longer and have more energy than I've had for years. I'm posting to see if others have had good success with topical testosterone (I'm on AndroGel) but also to see if anyone has had any of the long list of side effects that have led you to stop treatment. I have high hopes for this treatment improving my life but wonder about the manifestation of negative effects and what I might be on the lookout for, and how long it took before any side effects showed up.
  17. I'm 57 and have lost distance with all of my clubs due to age and arthritis. My average drive is between 220 and 240 with the occasional longer poke but my driver is my most dependable club, so I hit a ton of fairways. Last time out I was hitting it a little short, maybe averaging 210-220 throughout, but hit 12 of 14 fairways. I'm usually at 60-70% fairways hit.
  18. Must be an easy hole because I did exactly the same thing.
  19. Grey turds? I think that something's missing from your diet, Rick.
  20. I used to walk every time out. Now I have arthritis that isn't as responsive to treatment as I wish that it was. That forces me to ride. I played better when I walked but it's no longer an option.
  21. Thanks for the update, Mike. I look forward to getting mine.
  22. I have the same grip and they help me to take a less firm handle on the club. I haven't yet had the wear issue that you describe but I'll see how it goes over the coming months. My previous Lamkin Crosslines were great for wear but not so good for me for comfort.
  23. Top Flite Gamer V2 has been in my bag for a year now. For the amount that I play its a heck of a good ball at a really good value. I can stop my short irons on the green and hit my driver plenty long, so until I develop a much better game the Gamer is fine for me. I think that the ball is great and is worth more than it costs. I haven't tried the new Urethane version but I understand that for $25 it's an even better ball.
