  1. Agree with the Gamer V2. Great ball for the money and it doesn't feel like any other Top Flite that I've ever hit. Good distance and spin and soft off of the putter.
  2. Tomorrow.
  3. I got mine last week and took it to the range yesterday. My first impression, when taking practice swings with the swing trainer at the head end of the shaft, was that it felt heavier than I thought that it would and that it reminded me of my days playing baseball and softball with the metal donut on the bat. I felt like I got warmed up quicker than without it and when I took it off I hit balls with a definitely higher swing speed. I started with my wedges as I normally do, and stopped and started to take the Torc product on and off and after a few practice swings with each club my swing felt more fluid when hitting the ball. I usually hit my driver pretty well and felt more able to really give it a rip when I wanted to. I felt so good using it I found myself running out of range balls without the fatigue that I often feel toward the end of a range session, so I went back and got another 60 balls (after my first 110). Putting the product at the grip end helped in releasing the clubhead through the ball. I didn't give it much time with it in the middle of the club, so I'll check that out next time at the range. All in all a terrific experience with a pretty cool product. Thanks again for sending it to me.
  4. Or check out www.rockbottomgolf.com. They have some full sets at good prices as well, including a full PowerBilt set including bag for $170. PowerBilt has always been a better club than their price point would indicate. they also have sets of more well-known names for low prices as well.
  5. I'll never give up. I've developed psoriatic arthritis over the past 12 years, slightly controlled by medication (apparently I'm not as fortunate as Phil Mickelson in how my body is dealing with the issue) but giving up isn't a choice. I could medicate to deal with the pain (and I do sometimes have to take opiates on top of my anti-inflammatories, but never more than the minimum required to let me walk or swing a club) but only on my absolute worst days off will I even consider not picking up a club. I get to the range or to the course every chance that I get and no matter how much I loosen up I know that I'm going to hurt, so I just accept it and move on. Your advice to not give up but to adapt is exactly right. I'm never going to just curl up and wallow in self pity but to do the best that my body lets me do every time out.
  6. Mine was in the mail yesterday too. Many thanks to Torc Golf for the giveaway. I briefly tried it in my living room (work and rain kept me inside) with an SW yesterday and it made me feel like the muscles were stretching more than when I normally warm up. I'll give it a good effort when I'm off on Tuesday and post on the review side and Facebook. Just wanted to say thanks again for the chance to try it out..
  7. I have a Nickent Evolver driver with a Grafalloy ProLaunch Red shaft that hits it lower and a UST ProforceV2HL shaft for when I want to hit it high and get more carry. If I'm playing on a windy day or on an dry course where I think that roll is more important than carry the Pro Launch is great.
  8. I used the baseball grip for a lot of years. This is my second year using the overlap and have thought about trying the 10 finger again.
  9. The range where I do my practicing has all grass hitting bays, but the grass is never as thick or resilient as it is on the courses that I go to, so I love getting the lies that I do on the course when I'm in the fairway. Because they have such good rates I'm thinking about getting myself a mat just to get lies closer to those on the course when I practice. That said, solid contact seems easier to accomplish on the course than it does at the range because of the additional difficulty that thin grass provides.
  10. The range is one of my favorite paces to be. I try to go with a plan, something definite to work on, especially if I found a problem on my last trip to either the course or the range. I can't often spare the 5 plus hours for a round but a couple of hours at the range, hitting balls at my own pace and varying my shots, can be both productive and, for me, relaxing. Recently I've had a problem with consistency in where I strike the ball with my irons. For me the best place to fix any swing problem isn't on the course but on the range where I can work toward a solution at a better pace and with more balls than I can on the course.
  11. I think that the CBS guys are a little better at analysis, but you gotta love Johnny Miller for saying what's on his mind. Of course, that's what got McCord banned from Augusta so it's probably best that he's with NBC. Jim Nantz used to be a favorite of mine but the reverence he shows for Augusta is sounding a little forced the longer he does The Masters. He's a smart guy, though, and Nick Faldo demonstrates a knowledge of the game that you don't see from everyone. The irreverence of of McCord and Feherty are a good counterpoint to the guys at the 18th and Verne Lundquist.
  12. When the last Pope decided to step down one of the Houston Texans tweeted, "Popin' is hard!" That was good for a laugh, but it just made me think that "Golfin' is hard, too". When I have an iron in my hands I feel like I'm making it harder than it has to be. I usually have no problems hitting my driver, 3 wood, or hybrids, but the inconsistency in my iron game is driving me crazy. I'll go from hitting the ball fat with huge deep divots to sweeping to topping the ball, all during the same practice session. Does anyone have a drill that will help me to develop a consistent body position to stop me from dropping my right shoulder or standing up during the swing? It feels like I continually overcorrect and go from one extreme to the other when I swing.
  13. Done. Looks like a great product.
  14. In the south we have primarily Bermuda greens. Bermuda grass growth will follow the sun, so there may be a little more break to the west in the late afternoon/ early evening. Bent grass doesn't have the same issue. http://www.shark.com/sharkwatch/instruction/tip58.php is one such citation.
  15. If you do that make sure that the balls are RECYCLED, not refinished. I play the TopFlite Gamer V2.
  16. Paid $30 from my wife's PayPal account Thanks, Mike
  17. Such a better deal for two... please add one large fitted hat to my order. Thanks.
  18. One Sandman velcro
  19. I'll get back to you tonight with the measurement for the fitted hat.
  20. Ditto for the visors. The hats should look great.
  21. I'll be working for all four rounds plus today's Par 3 Contest, but fortunately (or not, since I can't be at home) I work in an audio/video store. The only time that I won't be watching is if I'm closing a sale or in a high-end audio room demonstrating speakers and components with no video display. I'll check out ESPN 3D on DirecTV as well. It's a little disconcerting at first but it's pretty cool to see the undulations on the green and how steep the hills are in 3D. I'm not a huge fan of 3D but some events are just right for it. The Masters is one of those.
  22. Tiger Woods -14 Jason Dufner -11 Phil Mickelson -10
  23. It's been a while since I've been to Palm Springs but my personal favorite is Firecreek at Desert Willow in Palm Springs. Desert Willow was on the cover of Smithsonian when it was under construction due to the conservation measures incorporated by Mike Hurdzan in his design. The Mountain course is a little more open but nearly as difficult.
  24. My goal is to get my index back under 14. Not a lofty goal but I'm time limited, so I have to work on quality rather than quantity of golf. Since I restarted playing two years ago I've seen improvement but not enough of it. I have to improve my game from 150 and in to cut strokes. My irons just aren't dependable enough since I just don't have good enough control over the depth of my divots.
