Annoying Things Golfers Say and Do on the Course
Slowswing replied to Lag Rag's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I hate that guy that tells you he doesn't like the shot choice you made. It's not your ****ing game *******! Play yours how you want , leave mine the f alone. -
Shot 94 today with 42 putts fml

From my understanding the swing is on an arc before and after the ball. A good divot will be pointing a few degrees left for a standard straight at the flag swing with no English.

Need help! Do I need new clubs?

if it were me I would concentrate on my weakest points first, learn how to hit your driver. It doesn't get much easier with how forgiving drivers these days. (yours being one of them) -

Shot a 46 +10 3600+ par 36. My best since I started playing this summer. I did it all with only a 3 wood! I had 17 putts, a best for me there too. Only one 3 putt, and it was also raining all damn day. Hope that stops soon

Try putting some tape on the face of the driver, maybe you are hitting low on the face consistantly and don't know it. I know that can lose a good bit of distance.

Choosing a first set of irons/woods

All the higher end clubs are good. If you want light the burner 2.0 are pretty light and the ping g15 are light as well, they also come with graphite but are a bit pricey. Nice thing about the ping is they can be matched to you. The x series are great, best thing is to head to dicks and start hitting clubs until one feels good. -
Keep a very low expectation for yourself, golf is a very hard sport I have come to find. I feel like I am pretty average for athletics and I have probably hit 10,000 balls since I started this summer and I'm barely breaking 100. Just wanted to put it into perspective. Oh and any callaway x series would be a great club . X18 x 20 etc

Thank you very much for the encouraging words. You are exactly right, whats the use in hitting it a good ways if you can't use your scoring clubs! I played the front nine twice today w/ out a driver and shot 48 / 48. My goal is 44. I had 17 putts the first 9 which isnt bad for me, actually my best in putts. Had four 1 putts so got up and down 4 times but I had a few crappy chips and had to chip out a couple times (due to no angle at the flag after tee shot). Second 9 I had 21 putts and shot a 48 again, a tad better tee to green but putting fell. Now, if I could just combine the putting from the front and the tee to green on the back I'd shoot 44 or better with just some better direction off the tee. In my defense today there was a serious cross wind of about 15-20 mph with some gusts that I think were pushing 30! I'd never played in the wind like this before. Very interesting and a challenge for sure. Would move a strait ball 20 yards left and shortened some of my wedges by 20 yards at times.

I don't know about that (will show up when it's done converting).
Very cool analyses! Thanks for taking the time, I love mythbusters btw.

I just ordered a new driver yesterday! The one I had was ballooning quite a bit, I tried my cousins 2.0 x stiff cut to 45 and loved it. Felt like I could really go for it, my s flex felt like jello in comparison. I really just want to learn to chip and putt better!

I suffer from early extension as well, standing up. Somehow I have made it work. I noticed Luke Donald has a very similar swing. Compare To I would like to swing different but it's working, you can kinda see my club is perfectly square.

Yea play with a friend, don't worry about your score or where your ball goes. Just set up as best you can and make a smooth swing. Try to be optimistic , it helps!

sorry best i could do! figures to 305 guessing my best on where I was standing and where it hit the trees. If it's within 5 yards it's roughly 300. Here is the video, i dont see the big deal with flip flops haha! The feet don't move a ton, I think they help with balance!

The google earth app te free one anyway doesn't show yardages I'll try and barrow my friends laser, I'm working here today

I have a high ball flight as well, generally not much roll. My cousin has a very low ball flight that will carry 300 and roll a good bit. I need to get a range finder out on our range. The distance to the furthest green according to the plaque On the ground is 285 I was 10 yards in front of the Plaque and I was hitting 10 feet up the tree line behind the green. The tree line about 20 25 yards past the center of the green. I pick the range So have a good look all around. Can't you guys tell exactly how far those trees are ahead in the picture! :-P

Or should I say, sandals!

Fair enough they may not be 100% accurate. On my solid hits on the course I'm reaching 300-320 range, I was just basing my solid hits on that. Also in fairness I save my driver for the non range balls that find there way into the practice range. So the range balls tend to be 10-15 yards shorter carry. Those are all averages also, I guarantee if those pros were out there swinging out of there shoes like me they would carry 350 lol

Like I had mentioned I just started playing this year, during this time I started working at a golf course for obvious reasons. I don't know very many people that golf, just the ones that work there (golf pros) and my cousin (5 handicap). They all hit 300 yards pretty consistently. I was just basing it off that, maybe once I get the chance to play with more people I'll find hitting it that long isn't as common. I'm starting to get pretty consistent, but I would rather hit 230 yard drives and not have 40 putts a round any day. :(

I say hit whatever you perform best with. I think that 90% of the people that play blades would shoot better with a GI iron. I work at a golf course and see a lot of people using blades that would be better off with something more forgiving.
