  1. The Olympics has been "pro" for better than 20 years now.......why should it matter for the golfers?
  2. This statement is absurd. We're not talking about hoofing your local muni here. We're talking PGA tour, playing for $1.4mil.
  3. Ah, that's the confusion. Western is in Macomb. WIU. You're right. 4hrs.
  4. UNI= University of Northern Illinois? in Dekalb? And you're in Chicago? The only way it takes 4 hours to get there is if you go to Davenport, IA first. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=rockfo...image&resnum;=1
  5. My Kinda Girl - Chickenfoot
  6. I'd roll it into a Roth IRA invested in good growth-stock mutual funds. Also, make sure they roll it over direct, and not cut you a check, if they cut you a check there will be withholding.
  7. I'm in for '09 if I can get the AFC West!
  8. I lost my game on #10 tee for 18 holes last weekend! City tourney, I shot 40 on the front, 48 on the back. 48 on the front on Sunday and 40 on the back.......strange days indeed.
  9. City Tourney last weekend, my goal going in was 160 for 2 days. I've been playing well lately and figure 2 rounds of 80 was reasonable. Start out striking the ball well on Sat, roll a couple putts, and missed a couple, I'm +4 40 @ the turn. 1/2 way to my 80. On #10 tee I take what is the be the 1st of many terrible swings on the back. Can't do ANYTHING right. End up w/ a smooth +13 1/48 on the back. Very dissapointed I try and flush Saturdays back nine from my system......sounds easy. 3 triples later and I'm +12 48 on the front......the good news is I seem to have found my swing between 9 green and 10 tee where I left it the day before, come back w/ a decent 40 on the back. Yes, in our city tourney, I went 40-48=88 and 48-40=88. Did I mention I hate this game? ;)
  10. GL in purple centered under the alignment aid. G for Georgia, my 7yo and L or Louis my 3(soon to be 4)yo......
  11. Chi Chi! Proof that if you work hard enough, you CAN make it happen!
  12. I'm the exact opposite. I seem to get stronger as we go. It's always within the first 5 or 6 I blow up, only to come back low on the back 9.
  13. Push cart, lot's of water, shade as much a possible and I like to keep a full sized towel w/ me and keep 1/2 of it soaked. This towel is for me, not the clubs. We have water coolers every 3 3or 4 holes, so I re-soak the towel as needed.......it's amazing how fast you cool down with a cold towel on your neck.
  14. That's the beauty in my vette, it smokes the 1/4 AND corners like a car 5x the $$.
  15. Same here. It almost like I let my guard down or something weird like that.
  16. I forgot, I put a purple GL on my ball. HAS to be purple. on a side note, we had a band from Dayton here on Friday....Eric Jerardi....good stuff!
  17. Good article on "Loss Aversion"......I think this may be why I end up with tap-in pars......that and the fact I tend to lag puts rather than charge the hole......it's a good ready anyway: http://www.kansascity.com/844/story/1319960.html
  18. Every round for me: Right pocket; 1 White tee, 1 gold dollar, 1 repair tool (grandpas) Left Pocket; Glove (when I'm not wearing it) Weirdest thing I do: Only wash my ball w/ bogey or worse. If @ 18 my ball is grass stained beyond belief, you know I've had a good round.
  19. Go get How Great Golfers Think by Bob Skura. Great read, and it's helped me w/ the mental side quite a bit this year http://www.howgreatgolfersthink.com
  20. 1st off, I assume you mean ball above/below feet, if not then this answer is for a diffrent thread! With the ball severely above my feet I more often than not will play it back in my stance while choking up on the club an amount appropriate for the slope. I have found the choking up is very important, otherwise I'll end up w/ a pull. With it severely below my feet, play it more neutral to front depending on the slope. I also concentrate on closing the club face completely to prevent a push. I do have more success/confidence with the ball above feet then below FWIW.
  21. My Driver. Funny, then I bought it 3 years ago it was the newest club in my bag by 20 years!
  22. I'm heading to Ireland w/ the family in Aug as well. I know I'm getting one round in in Adare where we're stating. I'll be watching this thread closely!
  23. We did our spring trip to Biloxi/Gulfport. Fave of the trip was Grand Bear. 10 miles deep in a national forest and immaculately done. Shell Landing probably 2nd fave. The Bridges was really nice, the higher handicaps in our group didn't like it, found it too much an exersize in target golf. The Oaks was a GREAT layout, but the greens were SHOT when we were there in late March. Worst greens I've played since the sand green course I grew up playing 30 years ago. Hopefully they're fixed by this time of year. George and the gang @ Gulf Cost rentals did an awesome job for us. http://www.gulfcoastresortrentals.com/
  24. I have FP's. Got them last spring and LOVE them.
  25. I finally played some smart golf on the back 9 yesterday. Watched my buddies all pull out driver on the 330yd 18. Almost pulled driver as well, but decided 2 hybrid would be the smarter play..... popped it right in the middle to a perfect wedge. Got my birdie because of smart play while all my buds were hitting outta trees!
