It all comes down to play, all of the semi-private and local courses around me are always covered up. The private courses are always more open to tee times and not to mention you will meet other guys there that share your interest... And this is just my opinion and I'm not judging every other golfer the same, but I think private courses seem to be taken care of better by the player, trash, divots replaced, etc...

Go with the Private Clubs if you can and check to see if they offer unlimited range with their membership... In my opinion you want to stay away from the semi-private clubs.

I can consistently hit it 290-310 depending on conditions, but I think driving distances are way over rated... I can load my weight up on the front and spring into the air on my downswing and get another 15-20 yards... But too bad their is more to golf than driving the ball...

I think it probably has a lot to do with tempo more than anything, but that's just my best guess...

Looking at the hole while putting - try it!
CuppedTin replied to QWKDTSN's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I think it makes sense, follow this: You use the arms/hands to control the head of the putter so it is essentially an extension of the arm. Have you ever rolled a golf ball to the hole to see the break? When you do, do you stare at where the ball starts or do you look at its intended resting place??? -
Hey Iacas, I can keep going as long as you can, you've got my number so feel free to use it instead of posting reply after reply, I'm always free to talk... I'm not saying anyone is an idiot for playing a driver off the deck, but I am saying that you are an idiot if you think it is ever a higher percentage shot than the others available for a higher handicap player which is mainly what makes up the members of this site... Yes it is a nice shot to have in the bag if you are experienced and capable of using it, but for most golfers there are many other higher percentage shots available. If you can't agree on that then we should just call it and be done.

If someone shoots consistently in the 80's and has said they get in trouble off the tee with the driver then I don't need to see their swing and I have a pretty good idea now of their ability. Can we now get back on topic...
-
I use a 56 degree for EVERYTHING inside 80 yards... I also carry a 60 for different conditions. I suggest the Hinge and Hold with the same club inside 80 yards... Best of Luck Man.

How often should I be 1 putting?
CuppedTin replied to jshots's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I believe putting is the most under practiced part of the game. Yet it is the only club that is required on every single hole! -
lol, welcome to the wonderful world of forums... Where people read what they want to instead of what it actually says...
-
I shot well enough to pick up 13 skins in a group of 16 guys... Oh, and I triple bogeyed (2) par 5's for good measure.
-
Agreed 100%

Seems like making more putts is the only thing you are missing...

Chipping gone south.....

Hinge and hold inside 80 yards on everything man... PS- Invoice is in the mail. -
I could care less what you or anyone else on this forum can do! You are missing the point, the point is "WHY" do it...And are you honestly capable of doing it consistently?

There have been several of these threads lately, but the main thing to remember is swing them all the same. Just because the club is longer doesn't mean it needs to be swung any harder. Best of luck man. And at this stage of your game I believe lessons are crucial. I'm not suggesting that you have any bad habits, but they are much easier to break at this stage IMO...

Hey man, use the things you are passionate about to work out with. If golf is a passion, then find some exercises at home to do with a golf club, golf swings, etc... My advice is to cancel the gym until you prove to yourself that you are going to commit and follow through with at least a 1 month at home workout... Start small and work your way up, once you start seeing results then you will have all the motivation that you need...

Listen, I never said "YOU" hit 8 out of 10 OB. That was a general statement about anyone with a high handicap trying that shot. I don't care about statistics and I will make all the assumptions that I want, again those numbers I tossed out are for anyone that does not have a consistent swing and who does not practice that shot often. And since we can't make it to Denver, why don't you post a video of this consistent controlled driver off the deck that you speak so highly of.
-
Thank you for your post, everybody seems to want to follow the so called "leader" on these threads which I find quite amusing. And yes Fourputt, I am referring to you. Look, I'm not doubting anyone because I honestly don't care. All I am saying is that if you can't get the damn ball off the tee and you constantly shoot in the 80's or higher, then what business do you have trying to launch a driver off the ground, you obviously don't have the swing for it so why not go with a higher percentage shot! And if you are not taking a divot (small) with your driver off the deck then you are flipping/scooping which will make you even more inconsistent...
-
Look man, I'm not meaning to call you a liar as I really don't care how you play, but if you can't shoot par and I'm just taking a wild stab that you can't, then how in the world can you consistently hit a driver off the deck? That's all I'm saying. And I'm done posting on this thread as well, because it's just the same 5 or 6 people that continue posting on all of them. I guess I am just more about consistency than novelty shots...
-
I agree, better yet let's just accept Tiger for what he is an that is human...
-
Then you must be teeing it up in the fairway my man, because 10 out of 10 shots there is no way you are better off playing this shot. Awesome, you get 20 yards farther on 2 shots and your other 8 go out of bounds... Why not simply put the 3 back in your stance and play the same shot and hit the fairway or green every time.
-
I hope you are not hinting that your game is anywhere near the level of Bubba's... lol. Let me rephrase that, I'm sure your more knowledgeable on the swing than Bubba, but let's be realistic about the ability to actually pull it off like Bubba can. And what real purpose does it serve when a 3 wood can do exactly the same thing with much better results. I understand speaking in absolutes, but it is absolutely unnecessary for an amateur golfer to attempt this shot in my opinion. And it appears I am not the only one that feels that way.

Ok Iacas, honestly how much farther do you hit your driver off the deck compared to your 3? And which club are you the most consistent with? I'm sure you hit driver off the deck, but I also bet it's not because it's your only play! :-)
