  1. I think bounce on a wedge has more than approach. Of the couple lessons i have had with trap shots and different ones, we always practiced hard sand and compacted sand shots to that of the fairway. In this case he always said if you can walk on it and not leave more than a 1/2 of imprint play a fairway lob or pitch. The simple things help me more than complex ones. In this case the bounce on the wedge becomes the most important factor.
  2. Well i really like this question. I think hand eye coordination is a key role of the game, i feel as if mine transferred from baseball, i played at a collegiate level for a couple years......... but i feel golf is a motor function of body and brain. If you make 10,000 swings over time including range, your body creates a memory system there, how else can you make a swing on the same plane swing in and swing out. I may not be a LOW handicap but i think theres more to it than just seeing and hitting the ball, you have to develop a swing and over time your body will memorize the swing, thats why when tiger took his new swing at the end of 1999 it took him a year or so to be well in comfort with it. Butch Harmon told the press a few years back when he took Adam Scott that Adam had one of the squarest impacts he'd ever seen on some occasions within .009 percent of a degree. His only problem was one swing could be totally opposite of the next, and they spent nearly two years on the same swing before he finally felt at ease with that swing. I read that article in a golf journal not too long ago, it was talking about Plane Precision, swinging on the same plane every time. Just my thoughts
  3. i have about 6 dozen or so, i found a local shop that put the Srixon's ZUR-S on sale for 29.99 and actually mis marked them to 19.99. so I bought every dozen he had it was about 15 dozen so i sold 10dz on eBay for 30.00 and made some quick cash. I have no idea how many shag balls i have, maybe a couple hundred or so.
  4. I will be in Vegas the 16th of August to the 21st any one know of any under $100.00 courses in the area??
  5. Just to clarify, i wasnt saying the right or wrong way is to tee it up. My personal reason is that i guess i have somewhat practiced my whole life without a tee on my mid to short irons tee shots. My distance control i am comfortable with it that way and it works for me. Not saying you cant get spin off a tee i am sure many can but i dont see getting the spin off a tee shot with a wedge or 9 iron from 145-160. Someone who knows more than i could maybe help, does a tee add resistance to spin from a tee shot??? I would think but i am not sure??
  6. Lamebums, It took me years to listen to someone about putting and chipping because even though we all have trouble we all think we can make every putt we step up to. The number one problem with putting is speed control. Amateur's don't have it, i don't have it. Our club professional who's my "swing instructor" per say always told me if your off the green and you have a very unlikely chip in imagine the hole being a tire, try to chip to within two feet of the tire. On long putts try to putt within the tire leaving yourself no more that a couple feet. When you can grasp that you start seeing a circle around the pin and you always have 5 foot radius to chip to and a 2 foot radius to putt to on those long putts.
  7. past 5 rounds was actually pretty good because i have only averaged a little over 5 greens in reg per round and its made my putts per GIR 1.7ish. Now that number is obscured because i think my 12 month avg is 2.13 or something like that with an avg of 7.9 GIR per round, every thing changes when you have an index and use stats
  8. Well this is certainly a one case to the next scenario. Many professionals use a tee and some do not, notably Vijay Singh. I personally don't play with a tee on my irons. My reason, i have a fairly steep approach, maybe a fundamental flaw with a my swing to some but comfort and my ability to work with my swing. With a tee on my iron shots i tend to drive the ball lower instead of swinging through the ball with a nice high trajectory. My hands are probably a few degrees further forward than the fundamental swing, similar to that of Arnie's,(I don't have anything else in common with him though, unfortunately ) I just have that comfort with my swing not on a tee. I don't know that there is a right answer to your question, sure some will teach to use a tee but i don't know that it actually improves your position or lie enough to compensate my feel, i am feel player and i find it better for me and have more confidence.
  9. I played the Mactec M685's for over a year and i like the blade's feel but they weren't for me too much distance loss on slightly off center hits, i recently switched over to the Srixon forged i506 irons and absolutely love them. I hit the ball higher than before which can be a problem in some of our coastal winds but i take that sacrifice for the confidence and feel of the i have with the Srixon's. I did play a round with the new Mizuno MX 25's and was more than pleased with them as well.
  10. I played a 58* for a while but with all the bunkers we have here in north Florida I bought a 60 just to see if it would help get up and down out of the deeper bunkers by taking a little steeper swing through the ball and letting the 60* cut through and i find it helps me out. Maybe my best wedge in the bag
  11. http://flemingislandgolf.com Orange Park Florida, beautiful and voted one of North America's 50 best courses under $50.00
  12. Geesh that was easy............Florida, Tennessee, Georgia in just the SEC East is better than most conferences alone...........
  13. key west Golf club, Its a nice course not too long and its nice because its one of only two golf courses in the keys the next closest is Islamarada. Just about 2 years ago the course was completely damaged from the hurricanes and rain, the course had tons of water on it destroying most of the fairways, tee boxes and nearly all the greens. The course was renovated almost back to where it was and is now i am sure in great condition. A good friend of mine who is stationed in Key West for the Coast Guard worked at the Golf Course, John Mikelitis I dont think he works there now but he is still stationed in Key West, mention his name i am sure you wont be treated badly. The course is expensive but its worth paying for it one time. Its a treat to play a course on the island. Good Luck
