  1. Callaway preowned is excellent to deal with. Playing off a 15, I'd probably avoid "tour" anything. Do you have a Golfsmith or PGA Superstore or something like that closeby where you can go hit them?
  2. Back in high school, my buddy and I posted a 54 which was 16 birdies, one par on a 3 and one eagle on a 5. We came about 5-6th in the tourney, and top score was iirc a 49 as well. I don't remember how much I thought it was BS at the time, but felt damn good at the score posted. Played some great golf that day (I was an 8 at the time, my buddy was around a 2-3), and the format scrubbed the inevitable bad shots off the board.
  3. Does it have the headcover and pivot tool?
  4. I've got a Cleveland 588RS 60* in my bag. It's a great sand escape club! Looks like this: ...so similar in concept to the old Hogan club you're looking at.
  5. Man, that is good advice NB. I catch myself all the time trying to overcome a bad shot with a "hero" shot, that usually ends up bad too and it compounds. I typically blow up one hole per nine (snowman or sometimes worse). I'm roughly a bogie golfer, but I tend to have about two holes add 6-8 strokes to my card. Your advice on taking the safe out and losing a stroke versus trying to recover with a Sportscenter shot is such good advice!
  6. Another thing I would bet you're doing is trying to hit the ball hard. By trying to really "put the mustard" on your swing, it's likely causing you to mishit. Try slowing down your swing a lot, and focus on making clean contact with the ball. Ignore how far it goes, the point of the exercise is contact. Once you're making good contact with the center of the club, I think you'll be surprised at how far it goes from the club itself! Then you can start slowly swinging harder, making sure you're making solid contact. Trust me, this will help you tremendously!
  7. I live in Delray Beach, and let me tell you there is a TON of golf in Palm Beach County. There are places where you'll be on a fairway and can see another fairway that isn't connected to the track you're playing! I'm not even kidding. There are literally hundreds of holes of golf, maybe thousands, and most play pretty well. My home course, Delray Beach GC is fun to play, reasonable and the staff is friendly.
  8. Nike made a 13* version of the SQ driver they called the "Lucky 13". Maybe that would be your ideal club, once you sort your shaft flex out? Sounds like a little more loft is improving your launch angle. FWIW, I see so many guys buying 9.5* stiff or extra stiff drivers, when for a good chunk of players, a 10.5* regular is much more ideal. Best thing to do is go to a real golf shop with a launch simulator and get fitted. You'll quickly get a feel for what you need in a driver and shaft combo.
  9. Oxalic acid works amazingly at removing rust. Something like this: http://www.chemspecworld.com/catalog_browse.asp?ictNbr=184 You can find brands like "Rust Out" at Home Depot or the like. Spray it on, let it sit for a minute or two and rinse off with plain water. Repeat as necessary, dry thoroughly and then wipe the club down with some WD40 to keep it from rusting again.
  10. How does a Kiwi find a sheep in tall grass? Very appealing! :D
  11. Yep. Good eye!
  12. I've got an old Mesa Boogie "Son of Boogie" Mk1 with Svetlana 12AX7s and matched Sovtek 6L6s. Sounds really sweet, especially with my PRS or SG.
  13. Watches and Porsches. I'd bet you and I would get along well, bet!
  14. Anyone here think this kinda stuff will get better if we go to universal healthcare (socialized medicine)? I didn't think so...
  15. Ah, even more watch folks finding this thread. Welcome! :D
  16. Ah, big ups on Maple Leaf Day! :) Went out last Saturday to celebrate with some of my Canuckistani friends (I'm not Canadian, but I'm a Canadian Sympathizer). Had a poutine and a few rounds of Molson Canadian. It was good times!
  17. 'Tis true. I have some married friends that are both symphony players, a percussionist and a violinist. Her violin is worth more than their house, no kidding! (It's insured for around a million, I think.)
  18. Cartier, nice! That's a gentleman's watch for sure (you certainly don't buy a Cartier for everyone to notice you). I want a Pasha myself. ...and I can't wear a watch golfing. Feels like it kinda throws me off, and I don't need any help being thrown off my game! lol For the guys saying they prefer their cellphone, sure, as a timekeeper it's more accurate than any of my mechanical watches, but that's missing the point entirely.
  19. Nice Panny! Is your GMT a Coke bezel (red/black) or Pepsi (red/blue)? Looks like a Coke, but the photo is tough to tell. Both are very nice pieces! I need to get some photos of some of mine.
  20. I can relate to a few of you guys! 1. Wrist watches. I've got about 40 (haven't stopped and counted recently) including Breitling, Omega, Rolex, Universal Geneve, Rado, TAG Heuer, Zenith, etc. 2. Putters. Especially older Pings. I've got close to 20. 3. Drum stuff. Lots of snare drums, lots of cymbals. I've got 4 sets, including a set of Roland Vdrums and a vintage Ludwig Superclassic. 4. Bikes. Especially vintage BMX bikes. I've got a thing for old Redlines and Haros. I also have a few roadies and a couple mountain bikes. I think I might have a mildly addictive personality? lol
  21. It's been a tough week for Georgia fans. They lost the CWS and their mascot, Uga, died today. At least they're ranked highly for the upcoming football season, eh?
  22. Very nice! You offer these for sale ever?
  23. Rad! Those Panerai style watches look nice. Where are you sourcing cases and movements?
  24. I use Windows PCs, drive a Porsche, think Starbucks tastes burnt and love my iPhone. Nice generalizations.
  25. Very nice! I ued to have a '97 M3 in silver: Here's my Boxster (old pic, back when I first bought it):
