2. Amen to that! This video of Jack at seconds 15 through 18 explains the building block for a good grip better than hogans book ever did (for me at least ).
3. thanks! Looks like the diameters are the same in both sets. Think ill skip the hard stepping and just regrip it.
4. Long story short. I was at the range yesterday and saw an old McGreggor VIP 4 iron blade in the spare club bin for $2 so I bought it. I currently play VIP muscle backs so I thought it would be a cool addition to my set and to occasionally hit it at the range. I have a spare PX 5 Iron shaft that is the same flex as the rest of my set, never used, never cut. Whats the downside, if any, to trimming this shaft and throwing it into the 4 iron head? Also, does anyone know the tip diameter of the Jack Nicklaus edition VIP blades?........ (and yes I have a swing weight scale, tungsten, cork, epoxy, grips, etc...). Cause if the diameter is off Ill prob just throw a new grip on it and call it a day.
5. I had one. very light and easy to swing. Very long! I traded it in due to the 2 degree open face. So my advice is that if you fade the ball already then don't buy it.
6. Curious how this worked out because you increased the stiffness of the shaft considerably. As far as trimming the butt causing grip issues you can make up the lost thickness with grip tape.
7. It does 240 fps at 420 pixels. with a upgraded card it can record for hours. at least mine does
8. Yes sir.
9. Google the Casio tryx.
10. Chris the first thing i though when you said you suffer from a push slice was that you're over rotating your hips. tristans photo proves it. notice how little the pros hips turn inthe back swing compared to yours. huge hip turns prevent your hands from clearing your hips due to the large turn needed to get your hips back to square. try swinging a club while on your knees to see what i mean. its helped me a ton.
11. Great swing for sure! I cant get over how open his front foot is (compared to what I thought was normal). Clearing my hips is my crutch! Gonna go wider with my front foot an see what happens.
12. One more thing. Was the club you used at the sporting goods store the Dymo? Because those numbers arent far off from being where you want to be. The X stiff may pull your spin down into the high 2000s or even just going a degree lower on the loft will prob get you into the high 2ks.
13. Ill make a prediction. No matter what your swing speed is when you get fitted, the fitter will try to put you in a stiff flex. Or theyll try and put you in a tipped stiff. That being said, Im curious what your ball flight looks like when you say SKY high? My first thought is that the ball is starting on a good path and then rises up sharply in the middle then falling sharply at the end. If so Id go X-stiff. Our swing speeds are similar and the only thing that flattened out my ball flight was an x stiff. Prior to switching flexes my ball was doing the same thing as yours. A mile high and like two feet of roll. I even had a drive that bounced 3 feet backward once. PS: Do your golfing buddies a favor and get rid of the Dymo. With that swing speed everyone on the course can hear you tee off. Worst sounding club ever. I nearly needed ear plugs at the range with it.
14. Just picked up a Ping G20 10.5 with the TFC Tour X-Stiff shaft. Went through just about every head and shaft combo. The X stiff is was the only shaft that brought my spin down right around 3k. The 9.5 degree had my launch angle right around 9. So we both thought the 10.5 would work out well as far as getting the launch up a bit. So far only 9 holes with it, 5 fairways hit. So pretty happy with it so far.
15. Not sure how "thick" were talking but if you want to see a thick girl with great hip turn try and find video of Caroline Hedwall. Especially video from the solheim. Her college videos are sloppy.
16. I voted over read, and over read long, short. My last round I putted 29 times. Thats with 8, 1 putts. The only thing I changed was inside right, inside left. Played no larger break than that regardless of what it looked like. Also shortened my back stroke and lengthened my follow through. Best putting round Ive had.
17. I dented the face on my Burner 2.0 within a week. Just off dead center, towards the toe. Burners are long clubs but Im done with TM. EDIT: Sorry should have mentioned it was a driver, not a 3 wood.
18. When I leave my driver in the bag it normally saves me 4 maybe 6 strokes. However a few things have helped me recently. I bought a G20, its about as forgiving as you can get. Gripping down on my driver to ball park 44" (marked it with tape). My swing thought is "Im swinging an 8 iron", that way my backswing stays the same (screw the huge backswings the pros use, Ill never be one). Played 9 the other day, hit 5 fairways. One of the ones I missed I should never have used driver. Put me 100 yards out and behind a tree (and I was only 3 yards off the fairway). But it cost me a stroke.
19. This isnt to anyone specific, but I think anyone in the eye of the media has learned, or will learn that you cant please everyone. So anyone praising god in public, on TV, or on Twitter has long since written you off as a fan long before you wrote them off. It is a shame that someone else's belief can fuel someone else's hate.
20. Welcome! If you havent tried Osprey down in Delray you really need to. Im playing it for the second time tomorrow. Amazing course!
21. My problem has always been over the top/casting. Near the end of this lesson he explains where your left elbow, right elbow should be during your swing. I applied it and my drives are small fades, if not dead straight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK7jpmHLloc
22. My first eagle came a few months ago. Was on a par 5. The not so cool part of the story is that there was a twosome in front of us holding our foursome up all day. My driver left me 250 out, and instead of waiting for the twosome to leave the green, I decided to layup with a 3 wood. I was actually trying to play within my ability and go for a birdie instead of a par 5 in two which normally results in a penalty or playing from the rough. Well my 3 wood had another idea. I ended up skulling the shot. The ball started off really low and straight. Then it started rising and hooking left toward a bunker 20 yards short of the green. The ball hit the down sloping side of the bunker and shot directly at the flag with a ton of spin. The ball ended up rolling between the guys legs as they were putting and stopped 3 feet from the hole. The cool part is that the guys didnt care that I almost hit them because they congratulated me on the shot cause they looked back and saw where I hit it from.
23. I dont think iron distance always translates into driver distance. I hit my 9 iron 145 and very high. My buddy hits his 9 iron 145 and about half the height as mine. My driver is considerably longer than his 90% of the time. Yesterday I was playing with a guy that hit his 6 iron 190 about 30 yards was roll (if anyone is familiar with Osprey down in Boca you know what I mean about the roll). I hit my 6 the same distance with about 10 yards or less of roll. The same scenario here, my 3 hybrid is longer than his driver. In short. I agree with Kieran.
24. I play with a few guys that consistently hit around 100. There's three big issues that they both have in common. They don't keep their spine still. Theyll say "I lifted my head" as their ball bounces 20 yards ahead of them. My response is "No you moved your spine". Neither is good at weight transfer. That includes falling back on the down swing or some weird jumping motion at impact (similar to Bubba Watson). They hit A LOT of fat shots and their common miss is a low pull hook or a short flyer. And lastly their backswings are too long (way past parallel) and way to quick. This is what separates me from them and I cant remember the last time I hit 100.
25. I cant recommend a phone, however Ive been using a Casio Tryx and gotta admit its pretty awesome. Its the size of a iPhone and has a built in kickstand. I just set it up on a bag stand behind me or on the ground about 15 feet away. Heres the link: http://www.dpreview.com/news/1101/11010535casioextryx.asp
