Ask for the serial number of the club then check with Titleist. But, my gut feeling is that this is a legit item.

I had done this before, grip the club an inch lower. I really do not know much about the technical aspect of golf clubs, but what will be the difference vs cutting the shaft an inch shorter ?

Keep us posted with the results when you decide to pull the trigger and change shafts. I will keep an eye on this thread....thanks. -
I bought a strong 3 wood --- Tour Edge XCG4. Great 3 wood.....but For driving, height is a rainmaker when I try to play a fade.......but as advertised this Tour Exotics is quite long....

Wilson Staff FG Tour thoughts?
18thbunker replied to handlez42's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I played with the MP-14 for a few years, still have it on my basement. Then played with Mizuno MP-68 this year until I had a deal I can't walk away with Wilson FG Tours. The ball trajectory between these models are quite dramatic ----- like you said the Mizuno ball flight is more of a penetrating trajectory. One major difference is that the FG Tour head is quite heavier ----- which partly explains the high ball flight. Here is the link to the Wilson website in regards to loft settings.....Would be interested your opinion on this. Wilson FG Tours -
Wilson Staff FG Tour thoughts?

I play with FG Tours fitted with S300. Took the advice of a fitter as my tempo is slower than most. I hit rainmakers with this combo. Found a cheaper way to lower the ball flight ---- I play with Bridgestone E7 low trajectory balls ----- dialed in the perfect ball trajectory. -
Irons and new club for high handicap
18thbunker replied to ZSeb's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
If you will be looking at a new set of irons, look at the Ping offerings. I know they are a bit on the pricey side, but very easy clubs to hit. I always played with forged irons, but at times I would like to get a bit easier clubs to hit when my swing is not quite there. I tried the Ping irons ------ pretty impressed with them. I looked at I15 and the G15 clubs. The prices on these clubs should start coming down a bit as new models are already out (G20) and the rumored replacement for I15. -
Hurricane Golf is a reliable place to purchase from.

How does FG Tours compare to VIP's. I likewise recently acquired the FG Tours. Likewise I acquired a used MP-68 at the beginning of the year to replace my MP-14 which I played for 12-13 years. In regards to feel, this is my opinion. Soft ----- > Firm MP-68 -> FG Tours -> MP-14 = VIP. Again take this with a grain of salt....as this is just my opinion.

Macgregors are very under rated in my opinion. The VIP line are very solid. I know when you compare it side by side with the Mizuno, the VIP's has a harder feel to it. But again, feel is very subjective. I think Macgregors being sold at Kmart kinda hurt the brand for brand conscious folks. Btw, which FG's were you playing ? I just picked up a new set of FG Tours as the price of it was just above $300.00. Very pleasantly surpised by this set by Wilson. Tends to launch the ball high as the head is kinda heavy.....but very solid clubs.

To the OP. If there is a golfsmith where you live, look at the 'used section'. At the store close to where I live, their 'used section' rack is filled with tour blades/forged blades/players' irons --- you name it. I got my MP68 off this rack ---- a custom ordered one, hardly hit for half the price of a new one. Hit any of these clubs at your delight...... Use their monitor if you have to to see the height, ball speed etc. Warning: At my Golfsmith, they got the swing speed and distance 'amp'd very up'. You will see Joe Blow with an ugly, slow swing registering 280-300yard drives.....down the middle !!

I just picked up a used net and mat a few months ago. This is the best investment I ever made .... perhaps even in 'cheapest' category as I bought an old used net and mat for $45.00. I started golfing in the late 90's. After purchasing a Spalding Executive iron set, I have always played forged irons. Spalding Executive 5 iron broke on me from hitting the turf and practice mat a bit too hard :) Playing with forged irons, I learned to 'feel the swing'. After a considerable amount of time, I could tell how the results of my swing by the feel of impact between the ball and the clubface. I learned to play this way. But I have been very very inconsistent as my swing is not exactly as graceful as Freddy Couples' ----- far from it....more like Arnie Palmer. I made a commitment to myself that I will practice more, change my 'ugly' swing.... My goal for next year is to consistently shoot in the low 80's and break into the 70's evey now and then. My achilles heel has always been my iron play. It could be so great one day and could also be outright dreadful the next few rounds. The net.... I have changed my swing quite a bit to have a more repetitious, compact but simple swing. I videotape my swing and make the necessary corrections. In regards to the ball flight, I think I am 90% correct as to predicting the ball flight again based on the 'feel' of the impact. When I play......I am really pretty dead on. So the net has given me the benefits that I thought I will get....I have a great picture in my mind of what I need to do if I need to hit the ball with a draw or fade, low or high.... Plus, with hitting around 200 balls daily, I have gotten much stronger. Again, this is the best investment I ever made.

I am planning to get my MP-14's refinished once I get the funds to do this. But my personal preference is to 'restore' the original look. That item on ebay, I agree a bit too shiny, a bit too loud for my taste.

Mizuno MP-14's. Love this with S300 shaft.....very nice ball flight. Nike blades was based on this when Tiger switched to Nike's.
-
I like people to call me a dweeb...... Seriously, a friend of mine and myself bought our MP-14 together. He did not use one whereas I did. After a few years, his looked pretty trash, mine, to this day, still in excellent + condition.

Hurricane Golf got the FG Tours for $329.00. If u call them, ask them to match ebay price with free shipping......very good folks
-
Did you say you are playing with Wilson FG Tour irons ? I just went to the range yesterday to try out a new set of Wilson FG Tour irons.... You got your answer right there in regards to 'how the SE 685 box feels' ... Similar to the FG irons ---- solid.....soft but not as soft as Mizuno MP-6... series of irons.
